White Sun (The Blind Man)

During the time of Sakyamuni Buddha, a man was born blind. This blind man had a good friend who was trying to explain to him about the existence of light. However, the blind man responded, "I do not believe in the world of light. There is no such thing as light. If it existed, I should be able to touch it. It has no substance and thus it is not real. Everything real has weight but I feel no weight or shape where you see light. If light really existed, it would emit sound as soon as I strike it. It would also have a particular taste or aroma. Since this light has no weight, shape, sound, taste or smell, therefore it does not exist."

His friend then decided to seek the advice from Buddha and then Buddha said, "There is no use trying to argue with him about the existence of light but take him to see a physician, maybe the physician can offer some help."

Then he took his blind friend to visit a physician and upon checking, the physician managed to detect the cause of his blindness which was due to the cataract. After the physician applied remedies to the cataract, his vision was restored. At the moment when he saw light for the very first time, there were tears in his eyes. He immediately said, "So, this is light!"

The existence of light cannot be explained theoretically to the blind man. The blind person cannot appreciate its existence but could immediately realize its existence once he could see it. The cataract represents the illusion of thought and many of us are like the blind man when it comes to the mystical essence of truth. It cannot be explained theoretically about its existence and validity. A lot of us are still ignorant of the truth and reality about our existence in the universe. This is because our vision, which is our perception of the world act in the same way like the blind man's vision that was blocked by the cataract.

What is reality to a scientist? What is a scientist's perception of truth? If scientist cannot substantiate a fact through any physical means or scientific experiments or tests via hypothesis, it is considered to be untrue. For example, centuries ago human beings perceived the world is flat and if you keep on sailing until the edge of the world, your ship would fall off, until Columbus proved them wrong. This is a fundamental flaw in perceiving the truth and scientists go by the dictum "seeing is believing" to prove a point or existence.

On 18th September 1977, an Underworld Emperor "Bian Cheng Wang" in charge of the Sixth Tribunal said:

"Nowadays, human beings say that because of science, there are no more spirits or devils; therefore, we now see or hear of so many murders, robberies, treacheries and lecheries throughout the land, and so, people tend to live for today and don't care for tomorrow; and if they are not spotted by government laws they dare to do anything and everything. That is why we see so many moral obligations being flouted everywhere. This is what we call the material world of the present day and that being so, it really pains the heart.

When those human beings who do not believe in the existence of spirits and devils, and those who do not believe in cause and effect, and those who lead sinful lives, die, their souls cannot escape the punishment awaiting them in our Prisons in Hades. Roughly speaking, the 'net of heaven' is very large and has plenty of holes, yet no sinful soul can escape. In other words, the Mills of God grind slowly but surely. Heaven's retribution is slow but sure."

A Heavenly being with a Third Divine Eye by the name of Wang Jian on 30th May 1977 said, "This third eye is a heavenly eye, a combination of heaven, earth and self; sun, moon and stars shining towards each other. Therefore the power is very great, especially to catch the evil spirits on Earth; when evil spirits see me, they are very frightened. Those who are far-sighted, when they lift up their heads heaven-wards and see the deities and spirits there, how dare they do evil?"

We cannot see the Emperor of the Underworld or the Heavenly being Wang Jian but yet their words are full of wisdom and logic. Seeing is believing, as the saying goes but how many people can really see such divine beings? We cannot just discount them as fairy tales and insist on seeing before believing especially the punishment in the Underworld or the wonder of Paradise such as the existence of the Heavenly world. We cannot see wind but can see its impact and feel its movement. We cannot touch air but we know its existence by surviving on them.

There are a lot of natural phenomena, especially those that relate to our spirituality, of which we are ignorant or have very little understanding. However, it does not mean that they do not exist or are untrue. If we want to understand deeper into the nature of truth, we have to widen our horizon of realization and also elevate our scope of perception. Otherwise, our understanding of the world will always be limited by our view of reality and truth and we shall fail to see the true colors of things, people, nature and circumstances.
