Elizabeth Hartman Tribute

This video is dedicated to Elizabeth Hartman. She starred in one of my favorite movies "Patch of Blue" with Sidney Poitier & Shelly Winters, she won a Golden Globe for her amazing performance as a blind woman in love with a man who for the first time in her life shows her kindness, compassion & love. This movie was made in the 60's when there was a lot of racial tension & predjudice so I'm sure this movie must have been pretty controversial at the time but I love how Elizabeth plays the role of Selina with such conviction & vulnerability. I think it's so touching that she falls in love with Gordon because she can see more without her sight than many people can with perfect eyesight. It's a great movie & I highly recommend it!! Here is a mini biography of her life: Born: Dec.23,1943 Died: June 10,1987 Elizabeth Hartman was born and raised in Youngstown, Ohio. She was the middle of three children. She soon appeared in a play, "A Clearing in the Woods", in high school and, at that point, she knew she wanted to be an actress. After high school graduation, she was accepted at Carnegie Tech in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and spent a year there before leaving for New York where landed the role of "Selina D'Arcy" in A Patch of Blue (1965). She was nominated for an Academy Award and won the Golden Globe award. She went on to display amazing versatility in other films as well - as an upperclass collegiate in The Group (1966), a capricious, hurtful young flirt in You're a Big Boy Now ...

Howard Hughes

Howard Robard Hughes, Jr. (December 24, 1905 April 5, 1976) was an American aviator, engineer, industrialist, film producer, film director, philanthropist, and one of the wealthiest people in the world. He gained fame in the late 1920s as a maverick film producer, making big budget and often controversial films like Hell's Angels, Scarface, and The Outlaw. Hughes was one of the most influential aviators in history. He also set multiple world air-speed records (for which he won many awards, including the Congressional Gold Medal), built the Hughes H-1 Racer and H-4 "Hercules" (better known to history as the "Spruce Goose") aircraft, and acquired and expanded Trans World Airlines. Hughes is remembered today, however, for his eccentric behavior and reclusive lifestyle in later life, caused in part by a worsening obsessivecompulsive disorder. Hughes's legacy is maintained through the Howard Hughes Medical Institute. His first two films, 1927's Everybody's Acting and 1928's Two Arabian Knights, were financial successes, the latter winning the first ever Academy Award for Best Director of a Comedy Picture. 1928's The Racket and 1931's The Front Page were also nominated for Academy Awards. Hughes spent US$3.8 million to make Hell's Angels, a flying film, released in 1930. He produced another hit, Scarface, in 1932. Later he made The Outlaw, which featured Jane Russell, for whom Hughes designed a special bra (although Russell decided against wearing the bra because of a mediocre ...

Who Are the Nation's New Architects?

Don't be put off by this bold statement, but don't dismiss it either. The plans for this country were drawn up by the founding fathers. Our ancestors who came here believed in the promise America offered and found a place where they could be free to pursue their dreams. They built the country. Now it's time to remodel.

Through all kinds of conflicts, including a civil war, we learned and grew. Two World Wars with a Depression in the middle, tested our character and tenacity; and, as a people, we became stronger. The age of convenience followed. Soon, this peace dividend was interrupted by social unrest sparked by the civil rights, women's rights and anti-war movements. Another long period of peace-time prosperity and the tech/information age made everything rosy.

Then, the wheels fell off. The tech bubble burst, terrorist attacks and a financial meltdown occurred. Accept for a brief period of time, when we came together following the 9/11 disaster, the country has been divided and the battle of words is inflammatory.

New Seniors can't fix the nation's problems alone, but we've seen enough to know what worked and what didn't in the 65 years or more that we've been around. We know that the entire country needs to take a deep collective breath before engaging in more mud slinging, character assassinations and never-ending name calling. We cannot debate our current situation and what the future holds if the various sides of the issues are not part of the discussion. In short, we won't get anywhere unless we are inclusive and civil.

Hurt feelings and blind ideology must be put aside if reason is to prevail. Some say there are too many single issue advocates pushing their own agendas. Others blame the lobbyists and their greedy clients. And, there are politicians addicted to power who are willing to do what their party demands rather than what the people need and want.

It all starts when two people talk with each other and find out what they have in common. It's amazing how much common ground can be found when folks have honest discussions. Friends, neighbors, relatives are good to begin with. Telling another about your personal concerns opens the door for them to reciprocate. Once some agreement is reached, the two of you need to go find two more people and repeat the process. Encourage these recruits to do the same thing. And, before long there is a virtual army of people marching on common ground.

The concept of multiplication is simple, but implementing it is not so easy. But, New Seniors are fortunate. There is an online forum where those 65+ have the opportunity to be heard about any subject you believe other New Seniors might be interested in. You can connect in a civil way with the community, by name or anonymously. Get the discussion going, logon now and tell us about what's on your mind. Together we can be the architects of today and help build a better tomorrow for our children and their children too.

Deafness and the Loneliness That So Often Can Come With it!

To be born deaf means to be born into utter complete silence, a world where not one lovely sound of nature can be heard, where no bird will sing to you and where no cock will crow to wake you up...

My brother was deaf from childhood so I realize just how hard this disability is, I have seen too just how many unthinking people can act towards anyone with hearing problems.

I believe deaf people in some ways have it far worse than the blind when it comes to being understood by the public, for everyone is willing instantly to help the blind and when they do so, they talk to them as an equal whilst still showing them respectful caring.

But unfortunately this is not always so with the deaf, too often they are shouted at and treat as if they are
not quite all there...

Please remember they are deaf not daft! Far from it...

They also have eyesight so remember whenever you are talking they can lip read, so any derogatory remark made in their presence about them can be most hurtful...I find that people would never speak in the presence of the blind in an hurtful way, yet too often they do so in the presence of the deaf.

I know my brother, because of the quiet world he lived in, he become an avid reader, not just of the novels and historical books we all love, but other books in order to study, thus learning all the different religions and the politics of the world, by doing so he was then able to understand each and of course make his own mind up about what to believe in.

He then found that he believed in 'Spirituality' just as I do today, that it is not religion that counts but the 'Love' that is there to be found within it.

He was able to do all of this because of the great modern techniques that there is around today. After having operation after operation he got to hear through a vibrating bone in his chest, and of course with this aid he was educated so that the world of books opened up to him.

But as wonderful as books are at taking you along with the story line, unfortunately they are a lonely solitary creating self absorbing companion, that demands your full attention constantly, so that if you are not careful they can become your life.

This is how it became for him and I am sure there must be many others like him, because funny enough once he had this new fantastic hearing aid, he found that he could not stand loud music, for it made it vibrate so much that it hurt, making him think he was going mad (in fact he was admitted into a mental hospital through complaining that he could hear music constantly in his head, not just pop music but very often full symphonic orchestras.)

That was until they found out that he had not gone mad at all, because he truly did hear all the music, for his own hearing aid appliance was picking up the different radio signals, that is why all the music he said he heard varied. So any gatherings and parties he then avoided and as the years passed with being single, he then like many older retired deaf people can, he just seemed to withdraw further into himself, no matter how we tried to help, he just seemed to find it so hard to respond, thus allowing loneliness creep in.

On the night after he had passed away he came to me spiritually in my dreams and he told me he wanted to explain about the loneliness he sank into, regardless of all the invites from us to have him join us, he said it was just as if he had another man inside his head, talking to him constantly, telling him to avoid others because they do not really understand or care, that 'He' is the only one that does...

That same night I immediately put pen to paper and I wrote this poem, the first of many that have been spiritually inspired by my brother....

'LONELINESS'

Loneliness can just, be a state of the mind,
Then it does not matter, if people are kind.
'Lonely' is the person trapped in your head,
Saying things out loud, that are best unsaid.

'Lonely' does not like it if you are in a crowd,
Where music and laughter, is rather loud.
In seeking your attention he will always demand,
Forget other people, with me you must stand.

He is jealous when other folk, try talking to you,
So he blocks any message, from coming through
Each time they try to say something that is caring,
He will put you in a mood, just to stop you hearing.

Now 'Lonely' always seeks the best places to go,
With the sick and the depressed, he loves to flow
He does not like joyfulness, he hates love and light,
So these are the tools to use against him to fight.

They can stop 'Lonely' they can drive him away,
For in a loving friendly heart he will never stay.
Then watch never to let, negative thoughts appear,
For this is 'Lonely' back, setting seeds in your ear.

By trying to stop your ambition, killing your drive,
He will block all positivity, so you will not thrive.
Crush His dark thoughts at once, do not let them grow
Then 'Happy' not 'Lonely' will be the one you know!

Candlemass - The Prophecy/Dark Reflections

From the 1989 album "Tales of Creation" Lyrics: "Holy was the star from which you were born, to a world where darkness and fear take form A lonely soul with a heart of light to find beyond reality, forgotten in time Seek the heart, seek in your dreams visit your nightmares and realms yet unseen You are alone, the last one to be a representative of mankind to decide the final destiny Will you be saved or will you stay blind deep in your soul the answer you'll find" The words were spoken, I cried in my hands the bringer of wisdom, or the one who condemns Can I succeed where the mighty have failed and re-create the harmony from where salvation hails A black star fell down the night I was reborn a last chance to save us, a last chance to turn dusk to dawn The vultures they cried out their welcome to greet my arrival the shadows they danced for my death at the nightmare's trial The demons of fear tearing my sad soul apart a horned winged creature laughed out its scorn to the dawn The sun wasn't able to send down its light, swallowed by thoughts in my mind Dark was my conscience, I was the last of my kind [Chorus] I was dead awake in hell A lonely corpse to break the spell A soul in flames a heart in chains Can't you see You must believe... The witchbrew was drained, I couldn't escape my fate wrong was this place full with awful disgrace and hate Sweet ancient memories, fragments of times that have passed came to my mind like a blessing with grace for my eyes [Chorus]

Curiosity, Blue Jays & Jesus

He wasn't like other kids. He couldn't run or even walk through the village without help. This poor kid was an outcast because of his disability. His world was void of light and color but it didn't stop his imagination. Dreams of what a bird looked like floated through his mind. He could smell the birds and hear the birds but he didn't have a clue as to what a bird looked like. His mother and father described the birds in detail. His father painted a word picture of a Blue Jay's wings using color and design but he couldn't fully comprehend. The pleasant melody of a Blue Jay's song resonated in his ears and the flutter of wings became familiar but he still longed to see what a Blue Jay actually looked like but he was born blind and nothing could change that reality, at least, that is what they told him

Many years past and the boy turned into a man, a blind man. One day a man, a man named Jesus, a Nazarene came to his village. The man Jesus and his followers strolled quietly through his village. Unbeknown to the blind man, his life was about to change, radically changed.

A disciple noticed the blind man and asks, "Rabbi, who sinned, this man or his parents, that he be born blind."

Jesus answered. "It was neither that this man sinned, nor his parents; but it was so that the works of God might be displayed in him. We must work the works of Him who sent Me as long as it is day; night is coming when no one can work. While I am in the world, I am the Light of the world."

You may not be blind but your world and existence are in darkness. You have tried to work your way out of this darkness but nothing you try seems to work. It could be your spouse left. You are alone and the pain of loneliness is eating you alive. Maybe addiction is ripping your family apart and no human power can stop the process. Like I said, you might not be physically blind but essentially all light has disappeared. My dear friend there is hope and there is light at the end of the tunnel. Remember Jesus told his disciples, in regards to the blind man, the works of God might be displayed. Get ready, the works of God can be displayed in your life.

The blind man heard them talking and a flicker of hope surged through his mind. He had heard of the healer. The miracles Jesus' performed in other areas had filter throughout the country. He struggled to stand to his feet. He didn't want to beg anymore and the blind man longed for the touch of the healer.

Jesus bent over and spit on the ground. He took His hand, mixed the spit and mud into little balls, and then applied the mud pads to the blind man's eyes. The Jesus spoke, "Go wash in the pool of Siloam." The man went away and washed in the pool and in John 10: 7 the bible tells us he came back seeing.

This is a marvelous story of the healing power of Jesus. I don't really expect anyone is going to come along and put mud over your eyes but the principle is faith. The man didn't argue with Jesus when he was told to go bath in the pool. He exercised his faith and it worked. If you will just be willing to allow God through Jesus Christ to reach out and touch your life He will. It takes willingness to do what is necessary to express faith in His power. If you are trapped in addiction, have faith to believe in the power of Jesus to remove the obsession and compulsion. If you are in a broken relationship, have faith that God can restore, rebuild or give you a new relationship. God works. There is no other power under heaven, that I know of that has the power to give sight to the blind or deliver a half-dead junkie. Today place your faith and hope in Jesus Christ and you will find the strength to go on, regardless of the situation.

Pitbullfarm - Lovesong

Since the day I was born I had a wonderful dream To make people hurt, to make people scream, My middlename is torture I got lust for blood, No one can be protected by any god. Many years ago I met a girl and I felt in love, she was my sunshine, she was my dove. But voices in my head told me what to do, Now I stand at your grave and I'm missing you. The eternal love is lost for life, Now she's always here, Once upon a time she was my wife, And now i live in fear. You're the voice in my brain, master of my mind, Searching, looking, hunting til I'm almost blind, One day I will find you, and make everything alright, Oh God, I miss those moments when our love were so bright. Now I'm with you every second, I can even feel your breath, But things have changed now, with a touch of death, You're colder, stiffer and harder than before, I'm laying in your grave, and never leave you no more.

Drop Down Mama - "Sleepy" John Estes.

Here's a record I bought in the 1950's when going through my 'duffel coat, roll-neck sweater, corduroy trousers and sandals' phase. (A real "mouldy fig", as the sharp suited 'modern' jazz fans called us 'trad' fans.) It is one of the recordings sponsored by "The Jazz Appreciation Society" and features Sleepy John in typical form and accompanied by Hammie Nixon on harmonica. Born John Adam Estes, to a sharecropper family in Ripley Tennessee on the 25th. Jan. 1904, his life was complicated from the start. One of a family of ten, at the age of six he lost his right eye in a baseball accident. As his father was a guitarist, he grew up with similar interests and made himself cigar-box guitars to play from the early days. He went totally blind in 1950, and had gained the sobriquet "sleepy" from a chronic blood pressure disorder which led to fits of narcolepsy, which caused him to drop off to sleep without warning, sometimes standing up! He was "rediscovered" during the blues revival in 1962, after a long and varied career through the 1920's and 30's. He died on the 5th. June 1977

Cats Are Our Friends

Cats are the most popular pets in the United States. Cats are the most popular pets in the world. More people own cats than dogs.

Cats tell us how they feel in several ways. When a cat talks, it is called a meow. Some cats have high sounding meows. Some cats have low, husky meows. Some cats don't meow at all. Sometimes it sounds like there is a motor in your cat. This is called purring. Cats purr when they are happy. Cats like when you pet them gently from head to tail. This often causes them to feel good and happy, so they purr.

When cats are mad or afraid, they make a growling loud noise. This often ends with the cat hissing and making a spitting sound. Do not try to pick a cat up when he is doing this. He may scratch or bite you by accident. When a cat is mad or afraid, they do not remember you are their friend.

When a cat's ears are flicking back and forth, they are listening. They hear many things we can't. The ears of a cat can hear noises we can't. If the ears of a cat are laid down, close to the head, they are afraid or mad. We know not to pick up or try to pet that cat.

Sometimes a cat's tail will be puffed up and round. Sometimes the tail will lash across the floor, back and forth, jerking across the floor. The tail sometimes only moves at the very tip.

Cats babies are called kittens. They are born blind. It takes five days for their eyes to open. Soon they are exploring their world. They will chase a piece of string or a ball of paper. Kittens get tired very quickly. They are so little they don't have a lot of energy. Let them take a nap and soon your little friend will up and ready to play with you again.

Parenting Tips - Finding Out the Right Time to Start Teaching Your Child How to Read

One of the things that every parent should know is the reality that their baby's brain is swiftly developing. This explains why many parents take advantage of this period prompting them to feed intelligent information in the simplest way possible. This is due to the fact that the wiring of the brain and the development of all its areas happens until the first five years of his or her life. During birth, the brain of a neonate can be just like a blank space waiting to be filled up with intelligible things, of course. One of the best parenting tips that one should be aware of is that each opportunity that you provide your kid with has a possible effect in how they will live their life. This is because learning is a second nature to young babies.

This is why stimulation is advised by your baby's pediatrician because learning is what they are born to do.

Lessons about parenting tips would instruct you to provide each and every opportunity for your kid to learn. Five years is a short period considering the plenty of things that babies are capable to discover and learn about, isn't it? If you carefully observe their actions, it would seem like they know about the short span of time that is allotted for them to learn more about the world around them making them too curious to touch, taste, see, hear and know everything that they notice around them.

Now, many parents especially mothers have become too particular with teaching their kids to read at the earliest time possible. They seem to be so enthusiastic to teach reading while their babies are still in their infancy period. While it is true that you can begin teaching reading to as early as three months old, it is still vital to put into consideration some things that would provide hints that your baby is reading to start on with reading lessons. This is to prevent pushing them too much because every baby is different in their own skills and capabilities.

One of the simplest activities that you can carry out if you want to be sure if your baby is now ready to begin a reading program is to look into their visual tracking skills. You can do this by basically holding an object approximately 9 inches away from their face. If you notice that your kid can follow the object through their eyes if you move it from left to right or up and down, then you can begin to teach your baby how to read.

To make your kid be more interested and enthusiastic with the reading program, it would be ideal to use colorful books that can attract his attention. As you teach him or her, try to pay attention to what excites your baby based on his reactions.

But if you expect that your baby would immediately demonstrate what he or she might have learned from your reading sessions, of course, he won't during the early months of the program. When you start it during the early three months of life, for sure, it would not be possible to hear a three-year old baby reading his books that is not what this article is trying to imply. It may take a year before your baby can show the reading ability that he has learned from your reading lessons.

Parenting involves a lot of responsibilities starting from the day that you gave birth to your child. If you are interested in teaching your baby how to read, you can find a lot of useful information to help you out. Be resourceful and you are sure to get to what you are aiming for when it comes to helping your kid how to read.

Rendezvous Rock by Rickey Bray

The Secretive Realm of the Three Circles

"Rendezvous Rock" is entirely a fictional account. Rickey Bray combines a mixture of Aztec wizardry, imagined Half-lings, changelings, glammers, warlocks, and night stalkers in this unique novel. It carries all the marks of realism with a hint of biographical influence.

While on a short camping trip with his uncle Ned, Eric is bewitched by Susan, who is camping nearby with her parents. Eric and Susan spend the night before Eric is to return home together. Eric unwittingly agrees to a lifetime commitment to Susan.

Bray writes with an amazing sensitivity to the insecurity and innocence of youth and the beauty and blind devotion of first love. Rickey has been gifted with a remarkable imaginative mind. His writing combines fantasy, science fiction, and the occult.

The story includes references to mental projection, knowledge gained from dreams, potions which can heal and enhance the mind, and creatures who can touch fire without being burned. The account revolves around the prophecy of a child to be born to a witch and a young man who is a Halfling. A sexual tension reappears throughout the story. These scenes may move back and forth from poetic beauty to innuendo and eroticism.

Bray's characters are authentic and multi-dimensional. The plot although obviously fictional has a ring of authenticity that leaves the reader questioning...what if?

Bray has an unusual creative imagination and an appealing writing style. The novel was written while author Rickey Bray was in prison with no opportunity to use the internet and only limited access to library resources.

Bray has the literary style and polished quality of a seasoned writer. His writing raises the bar on ex-prisoner published books from second-rate to outstanding. "Rendezvous Rock" will be enjoyed by aficionados of fantasy the cultic and adventure with a romantic twist.

Jose Campeche - Puerto Rico's Best Rococo Artist

Jose Campeche is an 18th century artist from San Juan, Puerto Rico who earned merits for his country and the Puerto Rico flag for his works in the field of visual arts. Born to a former Puerto Rican slave, Tomas Campeche, and a mother native of the Canary Islands, Maria Marquez, he was a person with mixed roots - a mulatto.

It might be said that his exposure to various cultures catapulted him into successfully becoming the first "known" visual artist of his country. Campeche's inclination towards the arts started out early, and is often credited to his father, who worked in restoring and painting statues of Santos or saints. The young Campeche was later tutored by Luis Alcazar, a learned and experienced painter from Spain. He honed his craft well, and was soon creating masterpieces involving various subjects in religion and portraits of known people in politics.

His expertise, especially in the Rococo style of art, earned him the distinction of being the best in this field in the region. Being given this honor is truly overwhelming to any rococo artist because this art is mainly focused on beauty. Its style gives emphasis on how art will appeal to the senses of the observer-more aesthetically than intellectually. This can be seen in his paintings: the faces of people done in such softness, charm and youth - true qualities of Rococo art.

He died in the year 1809, but his death did not diminish his greatness and his legacy remains as his works are treasured until this day in art museums in his country and in the hearts of his fellowmen.

Are You Blind?

Spiritual Blindness is Not Permanent!

I was in the airport coming home from a Women's conference in Oregon I spoke at, and noticed a blind man sitting across from me. He was content to just sit and wait for his plane to come. He had a walking cane folded up in his hands and I knew he needed it to help him walk and not bump into things. When it was time for those to board who needed assistance, someone came and took him by the arm and directed him to where he needed to go. He was solely relying on the other person to take him to the right plane. He put his trust in that person. His blindness prevented him from seeing for himself the steps he needed to take to get into the right line to board the right plane. I don't know if he was born with blindness, but he seemed very content in it. I am sure if someone came to him and said, "I can take your blindness away," he would quickly reply, "Please, I want to see!"

Jesus healed so many people, including those that were blind. He had compassion on them and healed them. Blind people long to be healed, and are persistent in asking for their healing.

Matthew 20:29-34 (KJV)

And as they departed from Jericho, a great multitude followed him. And, behold, two blind men sitting by the way side, when they heard that Jesus passed by, cried out, saying, Have mercy on us, O Lord, thou Son of David. And the multitude rebuked them, because they should hold their peace: but they cried the more, saying, Have mercy on us, O Lord, thou Son of David. And Jesus stood still, and called them, and said, what will ye that I shall do unto you? They say unto him, Lord, that our eyes may be opened. So Jesus had compassion on them, and touched their eyes: and immediately their eyes received sight, and they followed him.

Mark 10:46 - 52

And they came to Jericho: and as he went out of Jericho with his disciples and a great number of people, blind Bartimaeus, the son of Timaeus, sat by the highway side begging. And when he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to cry out, and say, Jesus, thou Son of David, have mercy on me. And many charged him that he should hold his peace: but he cried the more a great deal, Thou Son of David, have mercy on me. And Jesus stood still, and commanded him to be called. And they called the blind man, saying unto him, Be of good comfort, rise; he calleth thee. And he, casting away his garment, rose, and came to Jesus. And Jesus answered and said unto him, What wilt thou that I should do unto thee? The blind man said unto him, Lord, that I might receive my sight. And Jesus said unto him, Go thy way; thy faith hath made thee whole. And immediately he received his sight, and followed Jesus in the way.

Desperation forces us to cry out!

Bartimaeus was tired of living in darkness. Those who were trying to keep him quiet didn't understand his darkness. They didn't live for years without sight. They couldn't relate to his cry. But Bartimaeus was tired of having to rely on other people to help him get around. He was sick and tired of being sick and tired. No one would have talked him out of his healing on that day. From deep within he called out to Jesus to have mercy. He must have heard about all the healings that were taking place throughout the region, wishing it would be him someday. He was desperate for change and with desperation comes urgency. He could not take one more day in darkness.

Bartimaeus cast away his garment before he came to Jesus to be healed. His garment brought comfort. It was his security and warmth. It covered him and protected him, yet he cast it away to come to Jesus. He was tired of functioning in the darkness and cast away what was dear to him to be touched and healed by the Master. He was desperate. He didn't care what it took to get to Jesus; he was determined not to have anything prevent him from coming. He didn't want any hindrance in his way, only a touch from Jesus could cure his desperation.

Desperation can be a good thing or a bad thing. In Bartimaeus' case, it was a good thing because his desperation drove him to the Master. It made him ignore the "Nay Sayers" and cry out all the more for change in his life. I'm sure he chose to ignore what he might have been thinking in his mind at the time, "You have always been blind, what makes you think you will see?" Desperation brings us to the end of ourselves. It is there we realize we are tired of where we are, and decide to do something about it.

Being blind forces you to rely on someone else to show you where you are going. Blindness makes you stumble in the dark. You cannot see the beauty around you. You never experience the freedom of running. A blind person tends to stay where it is safe. Please understand if you know someone who is blind, I am not picking on them, but this disability is prevalent in our spiritual lives. We can be blind to the attacks of the enemy. Blind to what God is trying to show us. Blindness will block us from seeing the needs of others, and it only allows us to know our own darkness and misery.

It takes a tuff person to expand outside of their blindness and function in the every day life. When I see a blind person walking down the road by themselves, I am amazed at their lack of fear of getting lost, or hit by a car. In the natural, we see people all the time who are blind and have not been healed, but spiritually there should never be blindness because of Christ. Jesus came to give sight to the blind. He came to heal those who live in darkness. He came to set the captive free.

Isaiah 61:1 (Amplified Bible)

"The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me, because the Lord has anointed and qualified me to preach the Gospel of good tidings to the meek, the poor, and afflicted; He has sent me to bind up and heal the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the [physical and spiritual] captives and the opening of the prison and of the eyes to those who are bound."

Isaiah 41:7 (Amplified Bible)

"To open the eyes of the blind, to bring out prisoners from the dungeon, and those who sit in darkness from the prison."

I've noticed that darkness and prison go together. We can be blind and sit in our prison cell all lonely and full of self pity. What will it take for you to want vision more than your darkness?

Are you blind?

Do you feel you can't see what God has for you? Have you been searching for something more in your life and end up bumping into things that get you no where? Maybe you keep struggling over the same sin over and over again and can't see your way out of it. You might feel lonely or empty and can't find what it is that will fill the void in your heart. Jesus came to heal you of your blindness. Spiritual blindness is not permanent! There is a cure.

Just like the blind man, who was blind from birth, and knows nothing else but darkness, you might not realize you are blind. God has so much for each of us to experience in Him. He longs for us to draw close to Him so that He can whisper in our ear more about Who He is! He wants us to see the truth and to stop listening to the lies we have been hearing.

God's desire is to free you from your blindness. It was never His intent for you to live in darkness. He wants you to see clearly what His word says to you. God wants you to awaken to new things awaiting you. Just like any blind person who has been given sight, they are looking at things they have never seen before. They are experiencing life differently then in their past. A whole new world has been open to them with vibrant colors and endless things to look at. They get to experience for the first time seeing a loved one. All their life they have heard their loved one's voice, and may have touched their face to try and feel what they looked like, but to gaze for the first time in their eyes has to be breath taking.

Having your sight will let you see things before you come to it. Spiritual sight will give you insight into what God wants for your life. You will see it in God's word, or see it in a dream or vision God gives you. Ask God to give you spiritual eyes to see.

Sometimes our blindness will block our view of how we are functioning in life. We can't see any bad behaviors we are doing because we are blind to it. We might not be able to recognize we are going down the wrong road in life. Blindness may be an un-teachable heart. You might think you your knowledge is enough and no one can teach you anything, but this is blindness. We should always be teachable.

Do you want healing for your Spiritual Blindness?

You can choose to stay in your darkness or you can choose to receive your sight. Bartimaeous' choice brought a miraculous healing in his life that forever changed him.

Do you want to be healed of your blindness? Don't let your comfort of where you are; keep you from becoming who God wants you to be. Cast your garment away and run to your Savor who is waiting for you to come. Ask Him to set you free from your darkness. He will meet you as you run to Him. Jesus is just waiting for you to want to be healed.

Turn your eyes upon Jesus and look full in His wonderful face, and the things of earth will grow strangely dim in the light of His glory and grace. How can we turn our eyes upon Jesus if we are blind and can't see? Allow God to bring His healing touch to your soul and activate your spiritual eyes to see. We should have eyes for only Jesus and not get distracted by the things of this world. Keep your new gaze on Jesus always and He will help you walk from day to day.

Blessings,

Kris Belfils

Mark, Matthew, Luke and John - What's the Difference?

Since the Christian theologian Origen (c.185-254 CE) first surmised the chronological order of the four Canonical Gospels, biblical commentators have noted that Mark, Matthew, and Luke are strikingly similar to each other and yet differ markedly from John. Around the 18th Century these first three-Mark, Matthew, and Luke-became known as the Synoptic Gospels because they "saw" as with (syn) one eye (ops); they are similar enough to be read "synoptically," or in parallel columns. The Gospel of John, however, is a whole other story.

Why are there multiple accounts of Jesus' life? Where did each account come from and why? Scholars agree that either all three synoptic accounts relied on a common earlier written or oral gospel or they relied on each other. Some scholars still hold St. Augustine's view that Mark simply abbreviated Matthew and Luke abbreviated both. This has been the dominant belief for most of Church history and is indeed why Matthew is chronologically the first Gospel. However the view that eventually won out and that continues to be the majority view held by biblical scholars today is that Mark, not Matthew, is the earliest Gospel.

Modern scholarship shows that Matthew and Luke had both used Mark to compose their versions of Jesus' life along with another source not included in the Bible, called the 'Q' source (for Quelle, meaning "source" in German). This so-called "two-source hypothesis" ("two-source" because Q and Mark are two sources for Matthew and Luke) attributed to Mark passages common to all three Gospels, and passages that appeared only in Matthew and Luke were attributed to Q, which Mark, Matthew, and Luke all shared in common. But to the casual Christian a discussion about a theoretical undiscovered "Q-source" goes way beyond the pale-the important point is that there is reason to believe that Mark was written first, probably around 60-70 CE; Matthew second, around 70-80 CE; Luke third, around 80 CE; and John last, around 80-90 CE; also Mark, Matthew, and Luke stem ultimately from the same source, while John definitely does not.

Being now viewed as the earliest Gospel and the platform from which both Matthew and Luke wrote their versions, Mark's plot has became the privileged framework for reconstructions of the ministry of the historical Jesus, appearing to be the most realistic Gospel and the least shaped by the needs and concerns of the early Church community. The idea of Mark as chronologically first and therefore the "most historical" and the "least theological" is what is called the Markan hypothesis.

John's Gospel is different. John's Gospel omits familiar episodes from the Synoptic Gospels such as the birth of Jesus, his baptism, his temptations in the desert, the "institution narrative" at the Last Supper, the agony in the garden, and some of the resurrection stories. On the other hand, it includes a number of passages that have no Synoptic parallels, such as several intense encounters between Jesus and individual characters; a number of long, highly theological mystically oriented discourses; a very limited number of miracles that do not occur in the other Gospels, for example, the story of the water made into wine at Cana, the cure of the paralytic at the pool of Bethzatha, the story of the man born blind, the raising of Lazarus; as well as episodes such as Jesus' conversations with his first disciples, the foot washing, the scene between the dying Jesus and his mother and Beloved Disciple at the foot of the cross, and the story of "doubting Thomas"-these are all inventions, or "literary devices" particular to John's Gospel.

So why are there so many accounts of Jesus' life and why are they all different? How is it that the Gospel of John, written nearly fifty years after Jesus died, has episodes nowhere to be found in earlier Gospels? Where did these episodes come from? Scholars believe that early Markan Christians understood Jesus' "second coming" as immanent (immanent eschatology), while Matthean Christians, some ten to twenty years later, had to grapple with the reality that Jesus' "immanent" return was, for some reason, delayed (delayed eschatology). Fast forward, then, to Johannine Christians, who had to re-evaluate the meaning of the "second coming" altogether. For them, Jesus' coming was an event that occurred within the mind of the individual, a kind of "realized eschatology."

If you're a Christian, you may want to ask yourself what your "eschatology" might be. Are you waiting for Jesus to return from the heavens or does his return signal a point of internal conversion to a particular point of view?

Leadership Skills - Can You Learn Skills or Naturally Born With It

Is there such a thing as a natural born leader? That's debatable. He/she is a "born leader". Haven't we all heard this statement made at various times? In the realm of royalty this appears to be the theory. In the realm of reality does this hold true or are leaders developed?

A new parent or grandparent gazing at their newborn family member is sure to see greatness. The truth be told there is no agenda or plan attached. We are born with character traits and potential into which skills, experience and environment play crucial elements. After all Mozart, Monet, Elvis, Picasso and Hemingway were not born musicians and artists but with the creative potential to develop into the exceptional artists they became.

Some people have the intelligence and personality to be a good or great leader but lack the ability and/or drive to capitalize on their aptitude. History shows us that even though some are born into leadership roles this does not always make for good leaders.

Leadership is a process of influencing others. Charisma is often described as the ability to charm of influence people and is key to leadership. It is a trait. With charisma you have the ability to attract attention and inspire confidence. You either have it or you don't. It is not available at the convenience store. It must be combined with other traits and abilities to make a good leader.

Genetics plays a part .You may not be born to be a leader any more than to be a farmer, doctor or astronaut. Most people are not cut out to be leaders. They dislike speaking out, making changes, or conflict, all obstacles that leaders must meet.

Can leadership be taught?

West Point is a prime example of a leadership-training institute. West Point does not turn young men and women into leaders. West Point turns out leaders after providing them with the tools to develop the leader within. It doesn't happen overnight, but it happens. Students who go to West Point see the potential officer inside themselves already. Those who go into training for high-end careers already have the traits of a leader: drive, ambition, a willingness to sacrifice for goals.

Universities teach leadership, private industry buys leadership programs, public schools teach and provide leadership opportunities to our youth. A lot of time, talent and money is spent on teaching leadership. Society has invested heavily in leadership training. It may not be possible to teach people to become great leaders but you can give them the tools to improve the leadership skills they possess. It is up to the individual to add the necessary ingredients such as determination, communication, influence and vision to lead effectively.

It well may be that a blending of hardwired character traits you are born with and develop along with skills and experience combine to create successful leaders.

However, leaders do come forth naturally. Watch the children on a playground. One will come forward with the idea of what game to play or activity to do and the others will follow. Life requires leadership, someone must make the decisions and others in turn will follow. If not we would all be standing one by one in solitude and our very existence would be lost.

The Disabled - Proper Etiquette For Most Situations

Disabled people want only to live independently with a proper amount of dignity. You can contribute to this by giving them the treatment that every individual deserves. Remember that a disabled person is just like everyone else, except for the certain limiting factors of his or her disability.

Here are some quick tips for meeting a handicapped person:

Ask if they would like help before you rush in with assistance. If they do want help, they will let you know how best to assist them.
When you are speaking to someone in a wheelchair, have a seat, if one is available, instead of towering over them.
Show patience. Let them set the pace when you walk and talk.
When you are having a meal with someone who is disabled, don't offer to help cut their food. They will ask you or the waiter if they need help.
Try to avoid embarrassing questions. Let them bring up the subject if they want to talk about their disability.
A disability needs to be fully accepted, or simply taken for granted between friends.
Children and the Disabled: Children too young to have developed a sense of tact may stop and stare at a disabled person or ask embarrassing or inappropriate questions at the wrong time. It's quite natural for a child to have curiosity, but they must learn that they should be considerate of other people's feelings. In this case, consideration does not mean that one should ignore the disabled person. To play pretend and overlook the disability is to make that person separate from the rest of society, which is something all disabled people are trying to avoid.

The Hearing Impaired: It's crucial to remember that patience plays a big part here. Often it takes a little extra time to effectively communicate. You might have to repeat what it is you're saying several times for them to understand you. You mus not be impatient.

A deaf person is quite perceptive visually and will react to your visible signs of frustration and impatience. You must also take the time to accustom yourself to their manner of speech. It may sound strange at first, this is due to the hearing loss. If you are not understanding, don't be afraid to ask them to slow down or to repeat what they have said.

The Blind: When you want to help a blind person you see on the street, ask if your assistance is wanted. A blind person sometimes has the preference of getting along without any help. If they do want hep, don't grab their arm. You should instead offer your elbow. This positions you to walk a half-step ahead of them and they can follow your body movement.

When dining with a blind person, you should again offer your elbow. They know how to seat themselves. Verbally outline how the table is set. When the food gets there, describe for them where the items are placed on the plate as far as the side dishes.

Talk with them in a regular manner. If you enter a room announce yourself by speaking or introducing yourself. Excuse yourself when you are about to leave. If they have a seeing eye dog, don't pet or bother the dog in any way. It is working and needs its concentration in order to perform its duties.

The Christ, Ratu Adil & Satria Piningit--Revealed?! Part 1

The Great Expectation

At this crucial point of transition between the world-cycles of the Piscean and the Aquarian Age, and with all the suffering and pain that humanity is experiencing--the various injustices that tyrants are afflicting the innocent masses, not to mention the descent of negative karma in its myriad of forms as described in Revelations as the "seven last plagues," it is understandable that humanity cry-out for a Saviour to save it from a sensed future destruction. The way greed, separatism, racialism, egoism, corruption, conflict, fanaticism, terrorism, and ignorance are being expressed in politics, religion, business and corporate institutions, and social life, it seems that there can only be one possible outcome in the immediate future and that is the total destruction of the human race, or at least the kind of human civilization that we have come to know. The decadence of morality, the ignorance of the purpose and goal of life, the degeneration of cultural values, the exploitation of natural resources and human beings, ecological imbalances, and the misuse and abuse of technology, all of these have brought mankind to the brink of possible extinction; or to the imaginable return to a primitive condition as a result of a natural or a man-made holocaust--as scientific predictions foretell. It is the same story of Atlantis all over again. The potential destruction of human civilization lies at the end of every evolutionary phase of the world. It is the darkness just before the dawn.

The Vishnu Purana prophesied what would occur at the end of the Kali Yuga, our present world-cycle, or the "Jaman Edan (Insane Age)" of the Indonesian King, Jayabaya, who lived centuries ago:

"Thus in the Kali Yuga shall decay constantly proceed until the human race approaches annihilation. When the close of the Kali Age shall be nigh, a portion of that divine being who exists in his own spiritual nature, Kalki Avatara, shall descend upon earth, endowed with the eight superhuman faculties. He will establish righteousness upon earth . . . "

And again:

"There will be temporal monarchs, reigning over the earth, kings of churlish spirit, violent temper and addicted to constant falsehood and cruelty. They will inflict death on women and children and they will seize upon the property of their subjects. Their lives will be short, their desires insatiable. People of various countries will intermingle. Wealth will decrease, until the world will be wholly demoralized. Thus in the Kali Age, will decay continue. Then at the end of the Kali Yuga, the Kalki Avatar will descend upon earth. He will establish righteousness."

Whether the destruction of civilization would actually occur rests fully on the shoulders of each and every habitant of this planet. We have the choice of progressing or regressing, evolving or devolving; the choice of obeying or violating Cosmic law and harmony. In order to survive this millennium and to ameliorate our future and the future of our children, our children's children, it is expedient that we improve the quality of our morality, our consciousness, our awareness, our mentality; in fact, our holistic being. Humans, in general, feel weak in dealing with social and political problems and so are on the look-out for some charismatic figure who would solve its problems; and yet, within Man lies uncovered tremendous wisdom, power, and love that could establish goodwill among men, brotherhood, unity, peace, and cooperation. One of our basic problems is that we mistakenly believe that our religion, path, doctrine, teaching, perspective, party, group, etc., to be the only Truth and wish to impose it upon others. Does not Light have various colors? Does not the beauty of a diamond shine because of its many facets?

Beneath this fear and trepidation of a prospect of total annihilation that besets mankind, a ray of hope lives on in the hearts of humanity for the advent of an authoritative spiritual figure to guide mankind away from its follies and to initiate and implement certain changes in a positive and constructive direction leading toward a Golden Age, or an utopian civilization where the rights and freedom of every individual, group, race, creed, and nation are respected and honored; where all suffering and pain are eradicated; where every tear is wiped away by the hand of God; where the streams overflow with milk and honey; where justice, righteousness, and goodwill toward all beings rule in the hearts of every man, woman, and child. The above quotation from the Vishnu Purana mentions this Saviour, the Kalki Avatar, and what he will establish is the long awaited Kingdom of Heaven made manifest on earth--the New Jerusalem, a kingdom that every pious Christian, and almost every being hope to one day be a part of. The Kalki Purana also mentions this Saviour, and his response to the cries of humanity:

"At your request I shall take birth in the abode of Shamballa. I shall again place the two rulers, Maru and Devapi, on earth. I shall create Satya-Yuga and restore the Dharma to its former condition and after destroying the serpent Kali, I shall return to my own abode."

Even Krishna in the Bhagavad Gita declares his appearance at various intervals in the world of form:

"Whenever sacred duty decay and chaos prevails, then, I create myself, Arjuna. To protect men of virtue and destroy men who do evil, to set the standard of sacred duty, I appear in age after age." (Chap. 4, 6-7)

What sort of a person is this Saviour? What are his or her characteristics? What will the Savior's main objective be? How will the Savior function? What cosmic principle would he embody or emphasize in his teachings? What aspect of God would he promulgate? Will he display "supernatural" signs or miracles? Where and when will the Savior appear or re-appear? Is it true that this Saviour is one of the ancient prophets or spiritual leaders come again? Is this Saviour a myth or is he real? Is the Savior an impersonal principle within the higher consciousness of man? How may we recognize the Saviour? What will this Saviour really save us from? And what is Salvation? Who are the two rulers, Maru and Devapi mentioned above? Are they one and the same as the saviors expected by Indonesians--Ratu Adil and Satria Piningit?

Before continuing with our main theme, perhaps we should deal briefly with the subject of salvation. Salvation goes by many names: moksha, enlightenment, perfection, Self-realization, etc. Humanity's biggest enemy is Ignorance, and all world saviours since the beginning of time have sought to awaken humanity from its spiritual slumber. Ignorance is mental darkness, whereas knowledge is light. Salvation is the act of kindling and nourishing a spiritual flame within the heart and soul that it may once again shine brightly and recognize, merge, and unite with its Source. We must emerge out of the limited point of view that there is a "chosen people" who will be saved by a representative of the Supreme Being. The chosen people are those who choose to be saved, and not chosen by some Intelligence. Messiahs and spiritual teachers of the past have outlined a way for us to follow that leads to salvation, but we allow our primitive natures to take control instead. The newly-awakened soul yearns for salvation for various reasons. Below we quote from one of the monthly periodical of the Self-Realization Fellowship the various reasons why we should desire Salvation:

Why Do We Desire to Attain Salvation?

Because we realize that this life of ours is unreal, uncertain and painful.

Because we realize that all worldly pleasure is momentary and mingled with pain.

Because we realize that the senses are never satisfied with indulgence.

Because we will then be greater than the greatest earthly monarch.

Because we will then possess the things really worth having and desire for none else.

Because we will then transcend Maya or delusion.

Because we will then be freed from this life of birth, death and perpetual misery.

Because it is only then that we will realize and attain our real Self.

Because we will then be on the path from which there is no returning.

Because it is only then that we can be of constant service to humanity.

Because we will then have no desires to possess as there will exist nothing else other than ourselves.

Because we will then live eternally in a state of perfect knowledge and everlasting bliss.

Because we will then attain the highest ever attainable.

Because we will then be with God.

Because we will then ourselves be one with God.

But to return from our digression: Almost every religion is on the edge of expectancy. Every religion expects its saviour to arrive on earth's platform to perform his (or her) miracle to reward its followers. Some individuals with fanatic leanings, with a fundamentalistic and an extreme outlook, would also hope for the Saviour's glorification of their religion and its believers, and the destruction of the other religions together with their followers. Such fanatics speak of the freedom of religion--mainly theirs. Should we probe into their hearts, we find that it makes no difference to them should the other religions be suppressed or its followers persecuted. We inquire, could such separatism and sectarianism be tolerated by an enlightened spiritual being? Are not all beings one and the same in the eyes of God? Do not all religions have a single source? In the eyes of any enlightened, intelligent person, SARA1 is absurd and makes no sense. No spiritual being would appear to strengthen the human ego or cause separatism among the sparks of God indwelling in human breasts.

The ways of God are not the ways of men; men look at the form aspect and create disunity, God looks at the spirit within the form and sees only one humanity--all "fragmented" parts of Himself. We, therefore, affirm that it is impossible for God to destroy that which is a part of Himself, for the many forms that exist in the relative worlds are but illusions; in reality, there is only the Absolute, the divine God-Presence, God-Essence and God-Consciousness. All are One. The Quran affirms that God dwells in all men, thus it would seem if we were to attack others in any way, we would in truth be attacking a manifestation of God; if we were to snuff-out the life out of a man, we would be snuffing-out God's representative:

"And certainly We created Man, and We know what his mind suggests to him, and We are nearer to him than his life-vein." (Quran Qaf 50:16)

God being nearer to man than his "life-vein" indicates that God is the very life within us! Religionists and fundamentalists--beware (be-aware)! Acts of terrorism and "jihads" or "holy wars" are the very doctrines violating Truth. The Prophet Mohammad (Peace be unto Him), declares that the real "jihad" takes place in one's being--a war against one's lower self, ignorance and spiritual blindness . . .

Could it be that this mysterious Saviour (no matter in what form) will arrive shortly not on behalf of any religion or creed but for the sake of the whole human race? We respond with a definite "yes" and maintain that should a divine messenger of God, or a Saviour should appear, he or she would not establish any existing religion as the sole religion for humanity or that he would formulate any new religion. We stress that it is not religion that he would teach, but true spirituality, which we understand to be the essence and the living spirit of all the various religions of the world. True spirituality is Truth, naked and unappareled, free from all man-made dogmas that simply cause confusion; and it is this Truth that the Saviour will embody and proclaim, aside from the latest revelation of the Spirit. The representatives or disciples of the Saviour, Ratu Adil (the "Queen of Justice"), and Satria Piningit ("the Hidden Knight") would likewise emulate the Saviour and promulgate this spiritual ideology. The Saviour, Ratu Adil, and Satria Piningit will represent the three aspects of divinity : love/wisdom, will/power, and intelligence/activity, respectively.

We know that Christianity is waiting for the Christ, that Islam is anticipating Imam Mahdi, that Buddhism expects Maitreya Buddha, that Hinduism awaits Kalki Avatar, and that the Jews are looking for their Messiah. Could these unidentified persons or seemingly known personalities be one and the same? The disciples and initiates of lofty spiritual beings know that this is indeed the case and that the Saviour holds the planetary title within the spiritual government of the world (of which we will explain shortly) as the Cosmic Christ. He formerly held the post of World-Teacher. However, whether the Cosmic Christ or the present World-Teachers will actually appear in person or influence the world directly through the heart of humanity or indirectly through their disciples or all of these, is another matter altogether.

We have often emphasized the necessity of manifesting the Saviour, or the qualities of the Saviour in our own hearts and souls, and acting on behalf of the Saviour, or more specifically, expounding his teachings in world affairs. This is something that every spiritual aspirant should do regardless whether the Saviour would personally and physically appear or not. Though a Saviour may be found without in the external, mundane world, the real Saviour lies within the depth of the soul. Though a Saviour may exist without, let us not waste time by waiting senselessly and irrationally. As Paul said:

". . . behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation." Corinthians 6:2

and,

". . . work out your own salvation with fear and trembling." Philipians 2:12

The danger in seeking external saviours lies in the propensity of men to idolize them, and to set up a cult surrounding their personalities. As soon as one is attached to the Saviour, or Teacher, one loses both the Teacher and the Teaching. Should one focus more on the Teaching, one gains them both. Humanity makes a big mistake by glorifying its spiritual teachers instead of living the precepts and teachings that they convey.

Here in Indonesia we designate our Saviours as Ratu Adil, meaning "Queen of Justice" and Satria Piningit, or "Hidden Knight." Their advent had long been prophesied by Prabu (King) Jayabaya--who lived in the twelfth century--and by other mystics of the Kraton in the following centuries. How are they related to the Cosmic Christ, or are they likewise one and the same? We will attempt to answer these questions in this present work, however, we would caution the reader to realize that the contents of this paper are of our own interpretation and understanding of metaphysics and occultism as a whole, as correlated with the meager information that we possess regarding Ratu Adil and Satria Piningit, and therefore, that it should not be considered as the absolute truth or the final word eventhough we were inspired and directed to write it by superior intelligences. Information concerning the identities of Ratu Adil and Satria Piningit dawned upon us without even our having to seek it. It amazes us that the solution was before our very eyes without realizing it. We will, however, leave it to your own hearts, intuition and reason to appraise the things that we will reveal.

In this paper we will not belabor on how the socio-consciousness of humanity gave rise for the need of saviors, rather we will simply base our revelation on the occult fact that the principles or archetypes of these saviors exists on the higher spiritual levels of life within the Cosmic Mind of God and only need to determine how they will manifest in the world of form, whether through an individual(s), through a group-consciousness, or through an awakening within the heart of humanity of the characteristics that these archetypal saviors represent.

We know that most people, especially paranormals, scholars, and the followers of Kejawen, have already certain fixed notions and preconceived the nature and characteristics of Ratu Adil and Satria Piningit. For instance, they say (based upon ancient prophecies) that these beings possess certain physical and psychological traits, possess certain pusakas (sacred objects), etc. They might be right so far as it goes, but from our viewpoint, certain things should not be taken too literally; and so, if we were to present a different view-point, it might be rejected in toto without any due personal consideration and reflection by those who have already crystallized their minds. This is certainly a hurdle towards one's approach to truth. Preconceptions and assumptions when held strictly without any flexibility results in fanaticism and separatism. These conditions are not to be condoned for they just add violence to social expressions and prolong the state of human misery. We appeal to men and women everywhere to be open-minded. Why do we make such an appeal? For God, or any enlightened, spiritual being for that matter, usually do not conform to human expectations and beliefs, and hardly care for human opinions; and human notions and preconceptions adamantly held, may prevent us from accepting truth reflecting in its many facets.

To illustrate this, let us consider the advent of the Master Jesus two thousand years ago. Before his birth and emergence from society to carry-out his ministry, the Jews expected a militant Messiah-figure that would free them from Roman imperialism and colonization, and establish a new Jerusalem. It turned out that Jesus, the avatar sent to humanity, had ideas and ways not conforming to their concepts and notions of a Messiah and the things that he was supposed to do. The Jews, therefore, rejected the Master Jesus and still await their Messiah to this very day. In a sense, however, they might be right. Jesus may not be the Messiah of the Jews. Who knows, perhaps they will find fulfillment in the so-called parousia, the "second-coming." There have indeed been many claims to Messiahship after Jesus, such as Menahem, son of Judah; and Simon bar Kozeba--both political and military leaders. Nevertheless, none were completely accepted as the Messiah by the whole Jewish community.

What occurred two thousand years ago could well happen nowadays. We expect the Saviour, Ratu Adil, or Satria Piningit to conform to our expectations, and yet, when and if they should appear in a guise unknown to us and with teachings directly conflicting with our pet-beliefs, we would reject them altogether. The possibility is there.

Be Ye Holy

1 Peter 1:15-16: "but as He who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct,

because it is written, "Be holy, for I am holy.''"

Because the Spirit of the Living God dwells within as when we are born again, God the Father expects certain things from us. He expects us to obey His commandments and walk in His Ways.

Deuteronomy. 12:24: ""Observe and obey all these words which I command you, that it may go well with you and your children after you forever, when you do what is good and right in the sight of the Lord your God."

This verse plainly tells us for things to go well with us and our children that we have to walk in God's Ways. The decisions that you make today not only affect you but your children. The lifestyle you choose to live marks your life and those around you. It is not just about you, no matter what you may think. It is about you and those around you, at home, at work and at play. As believers we cannot "go our merry way" doing what we want, acting the way we want and making decisions based on the world's definition of what is good or bad.

Our opening Scripture in 1Peter 1:15-16 tells us to be holy as God is holy. This means we are to think and act in a certain way. The word holy means to be separate, set apart, to live and model our lives after the life of Christ, not those around us. We are to dedicate our lives to living the way God's Word tells us, not the world around us. We are to think and act in a certain way. The way God thinks and acts!

Romans 6:6: "knowing this, that our old man was crucified with Him, that the body of sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves of sin."

One translation says that we would no longer serve sin! Did you realize that before you were born again, you served sin, walked in sin and lived in sin.
Praise God, Jesus delivered us from that sinful life at the Cross. We no longer have to be slaves to sin, we choose to walk in the newness of life!

Romans 6:4: "Therefore we were buried with Him through baptism into death, that just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life."

2 Corinthians 5:17: "Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new."

Everything is new in Christ, all old things have passed away, we are to walk in the newness of life. "Ok, so how do we do this?" Is this what you are thinking as you read this? I pray it is, I pray you are asking how do I live a life of holiness that is pleasing to God?
Several writers of the New Testament tell us how to achieve this. But first I want to look at what Jesus says about the life we are to live.

John 14:13: ""And whatever you ask in My name, that I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son."

Matthew 15:31: "So the multitude marveled when they saw the mute speaking, the maimed made whole, the lame walking, and the blind seeing; and they glorified the God of Israel."

Luke 4:15: "And He taught in their synagogues, being glorified by all."

These few Scriptures give us a reference to the life of Jesus. In John 14:13, Jesus tells us that whatever we pray and ask for will be done. Why? So that the Father may be glorified! Everything we do, say or think should glorify God!

In the last two verses we see that whatever Jesus did, the people saw it and glorified God for it. Whether it was the mute speaking, the lame walking, or just teaching in the synagogues, whatever it was, the people recognized it for what it was. A lifestyle that glorified God and they gave God all the glory! They realized at that time, that what Jesus did was directly from God and worshipped Him for it.

So how do we live a lifestyle that glorifies God?
1 Corinthians 6:17-20: "But he who is joined to the Lord is one spirit with Him.
Flee sexual immorality. Every sin that a man does is outside the body, but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body. Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own? For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God's."

We are to flee or run away from sexual immorality. That is a powerful statement. Our body is the temple of the Living God, He dwells in us through the Holy Spirit. When you are having adulterous affairs, living with someone outside of marriage or having casual sex with someone you are grieving the Holy Spirit that dwells in you. In other words, you are breaking God's heart! We are to glorify God in our body, not defile it with sinful acts. When we poison our bodies with drugs or alcohol, we are defiling the temple of the Living God. We are breaking God's heart! The same is true for smoking cigarettes, marijuana or eating unhealthy food constantly. We are responsible for the condition of God's Holy Temple, our body. Have you ever stopped to consider that? I pray now that you do.

1 Corinthians 10:14: "Therefore, my beloved, flee from idolatry."

This again is a powerful statement. What is idolatry. It is anything that you put before God and your relationship with His Son, Jesus. It takes many forms, becoming involved with other religions such as Hinduism, or Buddhism. Becoming involved with the occult.
(This can be as simple as watching a television show that promotes the occult such as "Charmed", "Buffy the vampire slayer" or others. These shows seem innocent entertainment but they are not, they constantly feed your spirit ungodly things!)

It can be putting your job, your relationship with you spouse, girlfriend or boyfriend, before your relationship with God the Father. It can be choosing to sleep late on a Sunday morning rather than going to church. It can be choosing to go to a concert with friends rather than going to church on Wednesday or spending time reading the Word.
I urge you to look at your life, what are your idols? Identify them, and ask God to forgive you for idolatry and start putting God first in your life.

1Timothy 1:18-19,2:1-3 : "This charge I commit to you, son Timothy, according to the prophecies previously made concerning you, that by them you may wage the good warfare, having faith and a good conscience, which some having rejected, concerning the faith have suffered shipwreck,... Therefore I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men, for kings and all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence.
For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior,"

Living a life of holiness involves waging good warfare. We wage warfare in the Kingdom of God through prayer; powerful intercessory prayer! Did you even realize that you are to pray for the leaders of this country? We are to pray for our leaders from the President, (no matter who holds the office), to our local mayor and councilman. Are you doing this?

If you look at the above verses, God tells us why we are to do this. So that we can lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence. If we want our lives to be peaceful, prosperous and safe, then we need to be praying for our leaders, praying for them to be Godly men, who have given their lives to the Lord. Men who hear the voice of God, who listen to that Voice and obey it! That they will be surrounded by Godly men to advise them and that they will act on that Godly advice. This not only applies to our current President, but also to the Congressman that represent you! And to our local officials and state officials.

As a believer you need to realize that it is God the Father, The King of Kings and Lord of Lord's that keeps this nation powerful and prosperous and as born again believers we need to choose God and His Ways and walk in them! This is true in your personal life, how you conduct yourself at work or what you choose to do in your leisure time. The nation of Israel was led into captivity because of their disobedience. The United States of America parallels the nation of Israel, in that we are the only other nation in history that was established on Godly beliefs and principles. If we continue to abandon these beliefs and principles we will reap the ungodly actions we have sown. If you are a believer, than you should not worry about the economy. God is your source, not your job, not the government.

Deuteronomy. 8:18: ""And you shall remember the Lord your God, for it is He who gives you power to get wealth, that He may establish His covenant which He swore to your fathers, as it is this day."

2Timothey 3:1-5: "But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come:
For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good, traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, having a form of godliness but denying its power. And from such people turn away!"

I ask you today, who do you spend your time with? Do you spend time with lovers of themselves, lovers of money, people without self-control, unholy? Or do you spend time with Godly people, who strive to glorify God in all they do?

I urge you today to take a good hard look at the choices you have made in your life. Do they glorify God, do they make people see God in your life? If not, reevaluate your life, and from this day forth - "choose to be holy even as God is holy!" Pray this short prayer:
Father God, I ask you to forgive me of idolatry. Forgive me for not putting You first in my life. Lord I pray for this nation, forgive us for turning away from you, forgive us for our ungodly laws and actions. Father, I dedicate my life to living for you that my life may glorify you in all I do and say. Help me to walk in the newness of life,
In Jesus name I pray. Amen.

If you truly want to know for sure that you are a child of God, then I would like to invite you to earnestly pray this prayer.

Dear Heavenly Father, I come to you in the name of Jesus. Your word says, "...and the one who comes to Me I will by no means cast out." (Jn.6:37),

So I know You won't cast me out, but You take me in, And I thank you for it. You said in your Word, "whoever calls upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.'' (Ro. 10:13).

I am calling on Your name, So I know You have saved me now, You also said, "...that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes to righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made to salvation." (Ro.10:9,10).

I believe in my heart that Jesus Christ is the Son of God. I believe He was raised from the dead for my justification. And I confess Him now as my Lord, Because Your Word says, "... with the heart one believes to righteousness..." and I do believe with my heart, I have now become the righteousness of God in Christ. (2 Cor. 5:21),

And I am saved! Thank You, Lord!
I can now truthfully say, I see myself as a born again child of God! Glory to God!! Amen.
