Sugar Glider Diet

Since they are omnivorous, they are fond of many different types of food including meat. Some of the foods that Sugar Gliders, in general seem to enjoy, are as follows, but NOT limited to:

Apples, applesauce (baby Food Formula Only), apricots, bananas, berries, bread, cantaloupe, carrots, cherries, corn, dates, dried fruit, eggs, fig, grapes, honey, honeydew, insects, lettuce (Romaine or leaf only, Head or Iceberg can cause diarrhea), meal worms, meats (low fat turkey, boiled, skinless chicken & feeder mice), melons, nuts (assorted, unsalted and raw), oranges, papaya, peaches (not the pits, they are toxic), peanut butter, pears, pineapple, plums, pure fruit juices, raisins, strawberries, sunflower seeds, sweet potatoes.

I do not suggest broccoli cauliflower, or cabbage due to the gas producing properties once ingested, no one likes to have gas, even Sugar Gliders.

One of the things that might work well for you is to have a few different containers and chop up different fruits and vegetables in each until they are full. Then all you have to do each night is to open the container(s) that you wish to feed from and pull cut a few of the pieces you wish to feed. I would like to add here that I consider it cruel not to feed some type of insect (at least) during the week. In the wild, they will eat fruits and animals and they should not be denied that while in captivity. It does not have to be done every day, but should be done often.

Sugar Gliders can gain weight more easily in captivity due to lack of movement that they would experience in the wild. Babies born to overweight parents can sometimes be born blind or with impaired vision caused by fatty deposits in their eyes. This can be corrected by a controlled diet and measuring weight with a small scale. One of the things that help cause this condition is by feeding to many nuts, which are high in protein and fat. To reduce their weight you need to reduce their fat and protein and try to increase their exercise. It may take a few weeks to bring down their weight.

Do not get frustrated when trying to feed your pet. They are peculiar with their feeding since they may willingly accept a food for a few days and then not take the same thing after a week and then eat it the following week. The bottom line is that they each have their own personality and tastes, and it will take time to find out what they like. You may find it easier to go to your local grocery store and buy a bag of frozen mixed vegetables and use these along with fresh fruit. You also need to make sure that your Sugar Glider has fresh water every day. Keep in mind that tap water may not be best since it is usually treated with chemicals to clean the water.

A couple of suggestions that I will make concerning any type of feed bowls would be that you should at least have a bowl that will not tip or spill easily. Most Sugar Gliders will tend to climb up on the bowl and set on the edge of the bowl. If the bowl is not heavy enough to support their weight, it will tip over and the food will spill either causing a mess or creating a situation where the food falls through the bottom of the age and the Sugar Glider will not be able to eat. Another suggestion that has worked well for me is to have a type of feed holder that hangs on the side of the cage. I have done this because as the Sugar Glider climbs around the cage, they will excrete and droppings fall to the bottom of the cage hitting whatever is in its way, including the food bowl. My feeders are located at the top of the cage with enough room for a Sugar Glider to sit up, on the edge, without being uncomfortable while eating. This keeps them from climbing above the food (most of the time) and lessens the chance that they will soil in their food.

A sample Glider formula that works well and is as follows:

Adult formula:

4-8 ounces Applesauce
1/2 cup Gerber dry cereal (for protein)
1/4 cup rice
1/4 cup oatmeal
1/4 cup honey
4 ounces plain non-fat yogurt
4 ounces isomil or ensure plus
Apple or Orange juice to make soupy

Puree in blender until liquid form and put in ice cube trays and freeze and feed 1-2 times a week. Pull one out for an AM feeding and one for PM feedings. Discard after 5 hours. It is still a good idea to offer some type of solid foods for them too as this will help keep their teeth and gums clean and healthy.

Some people suggest feeding once a day at dusk, while others will feed twice a day. Which method you choose should be dependent upon your Sugar Gliders. Are they still hungry in the morning? Feed them a small amount in the morning or give them a little more in the evening. If I give too much food to mine, they tend to make a mess in their cage, so I do feed less at each meal, but fed twice a day. Try mixing up a few things that your Sugar Glider enjoys and are good for them and blending it together and freezing it. You can get a couple of ice cube trays fairly inexpensively and use those for freezing.

Patriotism and Blind Nationalism

Patriotism is imperative for national solidarity. Nations afflicted with deficiency of patriotic sentiments are facing internal rifts that provide vacuum to the foreign elements, having their own shoe to polish, to interfere in their internal affairs. The vested interests exploit hostilities of the fractured communities by flaring the flames of hatred. Patriotism can act as a deterrent to ward off the enemies. Contrarily, blind nationalism is tremendously perilous for the global peace. Although it unites the nations against a common enemy but roller blind xenophobia makes the world immensely precarious by eroding prudence of cultural relativism that is mandatory to generate gleams of anticipation for peaceful co-existence. Albert Einstein (1879-1955), German-born U.S. physicist aptly attributed: "Nationalism is an infantile disease. It is the measles of mankind."

Pride of performance is nurtured by patriotism. People are the true assets of any country who can change the destiny of a sleep-crumpled nation through commitment with national concerns by generating cooperation among their countrymen. The patriots consider work as their national responsibility and not a burden. While people deprived of these gorgeous sentiments seek means to avoid hardwork and think as parasites. They always gave priority to their selfish preoccupations over national imperatives. These cheap Charlie freeloaders can also be easily exploited by the foreign despicable agents who use them as tools for their nefarious activities. Patriots cannot be dissuaded by the enemies working against their nationwide interests.

Venetian blind racism endangers global peace and harmony. World War I was fought due to jingoism of bigoted nationalists. Axis powers were defeated resulting in the triumph of the Allied forces. Millions of lives were lost due to the horrendous war fought due to national chauvinism. The superiority complex of the nations at war resulted in dreadful consequences. League of Nations was established in 1919 to counter the eruption of any global war in future but it badly botched to prevent the mayhem resulting from the brutalities of the World War II.

Tough customer and live wire Adolph Hitler adopted bellicose and pugnacious attitude that ignited the second horrible global war resulting in massive casualties. UNO was established during the termination phase of the WWII. However, this gumless lion has shoddily failed to prevent the global dinosaurs, who love to shed human blood by inflicting injuries, to wreak havoc. The boneless global organization has been hijacked by the yellow-eyed crocodiles having hegemonic designs in the world. Sarcastically, the bridles of the offshoots of this worldwide institution are in the hands of jingoist hawks who have made the future of mankind terrifically insecure through their dreadful adventurisms.

Now several countries possess nukes and other deadly weapons in their arsenals. Therefore, the glimmers of hope for the establishment of global synchronization to ensure nonviolent co-existence are becoming extremely bleak with each passing day because of waging unjust wars and use of lethal weapons by power boozed alligators. These power intoxicated militarists want to impose their nude culture on others because they have illusion that their way of life is supreme. These fanatics have crossed the limits of patriotism and bounds of international morality. Therefore, I can only say:

Blind nationalism cultivates prejudice, pomp, show and vanity
Blessed patriotism sublimates peace, pride, shelter and humanity;
Solidarity and fraternity are the byproducts of superb patriotism
Outcomes of canopy chauvinism are nothing but war and inanity.

The disgusting ambiance of feudalism and despotism cannot permit hallowed patriotic sentiments to flourish in the society. In the European countries feudalism was replaced by sightless nationalism. Race superiority complex is still prevalent in these countries that have drawn narrow-minded lines among these nations despite their unity in the form of European Union. Some members have not adopted Euro as their national currency due to ethnocentrism and some of the countries have not even joined this continental organization. Every country in Europe considers its own mother tongue superior than others. In developing countries patriotism has been eroded by authoritarianism and feudalism. Democracy can provide suitable atmosphere for patriotism to thrive that is hanging in the balance in these states.

Patriotism has been deliberately crushed in Pakistan . After the death of the father of the nation the bridles of power wrongly fell into the hands of feudal lords. The founder of the country successfully evoked patriotic passions among the masses. He tackled the issues of language controversy and the declaring of Karachi as the federal capital through his political sagacity and statesman like wisdom. The Quaid-i-Azam stirred up patriotic passions among the bureaucracy that served the wounded nation with a sense of dedication and selfless devotion. The erudite great leader spared no effort to unite the nascent nation under the banner of the land of the pure. But he did not get sufficient time to indoctrinate the teeming millions with unbounded love for their newly carved out motherland.

His untimely death was an immense jolt for the blossoming nation that has pinned great expectations with his integrity and bolt upright personality. The leadership vacuum generated after the death of the grand leader, having indomitable will and dauntless courage, could not be adequately replaced by PM Liaqat Ali Khan. The leadership crisis further worsened after the assassination of the Quaid-i-Millat on October 16, 1951 in Company Bagh Rawalpindi. Subsequent political wrangling among the vested interests did not permit patriotic fraternity to take its firm roots. Patriotism further withered away with the imposition of Martial Law. Partisan industrialization policies of President Ayub Khan resulted in driving the economic wedge between the two wings that culminated in their permanent separation. Economic exploitation by the business tycoons resulted in the dominance of divisive forces between the constituent units. The Bengalis gave priority to the regional language over national language. Ideology also failed to act as a cementing force. Patriotism was dominated by Bengali nationalism and ultimately the monument of the Quiad-i-Azam fractured into two parts.

Patriotism can flourish when needs of the people are fulfilled by the state and the hoi polloi genuinely feel that they are the masters of their destiny. If state is negligent toward the meeting out of basic necessities of life then it would generate indifference in the public toward the country. Patriotic sentiments die down when a person has empty stomach for want of a square meal. Samuel Johnson (1709-1784), British lexicographer and writer fittingly attributed in his magnum opus "Lives of the English Poets" "Collins" (1779-1781). "A man, doubtful of his dinner, or trembling at a creditor, is not much disposed to abstracted meditation, or remote enquiries." Therefore, it is essential to empower the public by establishing true democracy at the grassroots level to inculcate genuine national pride .Only a popular government elected through transparent polls can help to fulfill the requirements of the people.

Blind nationalism is the basis of prejudice and hate. It is a distorted form of patriotism. Everyone should love his country without abhorring other nations. Every nation has its own culture. Therefore, the global hammer men should promote cultural relativism instead of ethnocentrism to bring harmony and peace in the world. Cecil Arthur Spring-Rice (1859-1918), British diplomat, written on his departure from Washington these passionate words under the caption "I Vow to Thee, My Country" (January 12, 1918) that reflects the feelings of every true patriot:"

"I vow to thee, my country-all earthly things above-

Entire and whole and perfect, the service of my love,

The love that asks no question: the love that stands the test,

That lays upon the altar the dearest and the best:

The love that never falters, the love that pays the price,

The love that makes undaunted the final sacrifice."

Jesus and the Blind Man Part 2

The Blind man was brought to the synagogue before the Pharisees, and they questioned him, "How did this happen?" The man told them, "He put mud on my eyes and I washed and then I could see!" The Pharisees were not happy to hear about the wonderful thing that had happened to the man. They began to talk and argue among themselves. One man said, "This man does not come from God." Another said "He must be from God." We never heard of a miracle like this before." When they couldn't agree among themselves, they said, "Let's call his parents and talk with them."

Soon the mother and father of the blind man were brought before them. They were afraid of the Pharisees, and they did not want to say very much. They knew that the Pharisees hated Jesus and would put anyone out of the synagogue who said he believed in Him. The Pharisees said to them. "Is this your son whom you say was born blind? How did he get his eyes opened?" The father and mother replied, "Yes, he is our son and we know that he was born blind. But we can not tell you how his eyes were opened. You must ask him about that, He is of age, and he will speak for himself."

Then the parents went away and left their boy to face the Pharisees alone. They again argued with him and became vey angry. They said to him, "We know that this man is a sinner, and we are not going to listen to him. We believe what Moses wrote in the Old Testament, but we don't know anything about this fellow." The blind man stood up boldly before them and said to them, "I know one thing. I was blind and He opened my eyes and now I can see. You never heard of anyone who could do a miracle like that and yet you refuse to believe that He is from God." The Pharisees got more excited and angry every moment. Finally they took him by the shoulders and pushed him out of the synagogue, saying, "Don't ever come back here again!"

Even though his father and mother had not stood with him, and though he had been put out of the synagogue, their house of worship, the Lord Jesus had not forgotten him. He heard that he had been cast out by the Pharisees, and He came to look for him. He found him, but the blind man did not know who He was, for he had only heard His voice before and had not seen Him.

Jesus said to him, "Do you believe on the Son of God?" The man said, "Who is He, Lord? I would believe on Him if I knew Him!" Jesus replied, "You are looking at Him, and He is talking with you. I am the Son of God." Then the man fell down at His feet and worshiped Him. He cried out, "Lord, I believe." As he knelt at Jesus' feet, the other things all seemed unimportant. It didn't really matter that he had been cast out of the synagogue or that his mother and father had not stood with him. His whole heart went out in love and worship to the Saviour who had opened his eyes and whom he was to serve all the rest of his life.

This wonderful story teaches us how the blindness in our hearts can be healed. The blind man is a picture of you and me. Each of us is born into the world with blindness in our spirits because of sin. We are blind to God's love and care and our need of Jesus. We can not get rid of this blindness of sin ourselves, and no one can help us but Jesus. The blind man heard Jesus speak to him, and he obeyed. We hear God's Word in the Bible. The Bible tells us that Jesus said, "I am the light of the world, he that follows Me shall not walk in darkness but shall have the light of life." When we truly believe this, we will obey God's Word and come to Jesus, just as the blind man heard and obeyed.

When he obeyed, his eyes were opened to see the wonderful world all around him. When we come to Jesus and trust Him completely, He opens our eyes to see the beauties of the heavenly world. We see how lovely Jesus is, and we want everyone else to see this too. Our eyes are opened to love God's Word and God's house and God's people. Let us all open our hearts wide to the Lord Jesus that His light may shine in every corner and drive out all the darkness.

Who Are Your Buddies?

Have you ever thought about the people that you hang around with the most? Have you ever thought about these people in the context of what you are trying to do with your life or with your business? This concept, while not new, is sometimes the most difficult to implement.

In his book, "The Real Truth About Success: What the Top 1 Percent Do Differently, Why They Won't Tell You, and How You Can Do it Anyway," Garrison Wynn, there is a chapter on leverage that has a section called "Your Loser Buddies." In this chapter he outlines how it is very important to spend time with the people that can help you get where you want to be, which generally means people that are more successful than you are. What can you learn from people that aren't where you want to be? Do they have a positive attitude? The simple truth is that sometimes, as we grow, we outgrow some of our past relationships. That perky best friend from high school may now be a negative pessimistic person that you no longer enjoy being around.

Sometime we worry so much about being considered a "snob," or "ungrateful," that we stay in a relationship, even if that relationship has long ago ceased being even pleasant. Wynn gives the following example:

"It's like energy drinks and aging. When you're young and on the go, you need something to keep you going—some sort of caffeinated ginseng boost that gets you wired and ready to pounce on prosperity. But when you're older, that same drink makes you cranky, gives you the jitters, and causes you to mow your lawn at midnight. Maybe you achieved a lot with the help of that energy drink, but at some point it's time to give it up."

In business, we need to take care of business, particularly when that business is taking care of not only us as individuals but our family as well. It is not about be ungrateful or being a snob, it is about doing what you have to do.

Don't misunderstand. Friends are important and ones that you've had for a very long time and that you still enjoy being around add value to your life in different ways. But when you are trying to build a business or go a different direction, it is important to realize the impact that people can have on your life. Are they dragging you down or building you up? Is being with them a pleasure or a duty? This is your life. You have the right to live it in the way you see fit.

Tell me what company you keep and I'll tell you what you are. Miguel de Cervantes Spanish adventurer, author, & poet (1547 - 1616)

Hiring Successfully - You Get What You Put Into the Process

• Opportunities for growth, including plenty of training
• Job security
• Pride in work, products, company
• Openness/fairness two-way communication that allows employees input to the decision making process, clearly stated policies, a formal grievance process
• Corporate culture that promotes camaraderie, including reduced status distinctions
• Competitive wages

Your company has many or all of these things going for it. Why is hiring top people still so difficult?

Unfortunately, a successful hiring process cannot be pushed into a back corner of business operations or completely outsourced. Regardless of whether your firm has the luxury of hiring the best search firm or employment agency to help you, the primary responsibilities are yours regarding the Job Description, Managing Applicant Expectations, Projecting a Positive Company Image, and Conducting Final Interviews Based on Competencies.

The Job Description
While a search firm or agency may handle the final drafting, it is up to you to provide all the content for a written job description. This should include an explanation of specific and measurable duties and responsibilities, reporting relationships, work environment, customer service expectations, physical demands as well as experience and interpersonal skills required. If the initial screening is being outsourced, that agency should also receive a full briefing (ideally in writing) that communicates the positive aspects and the drawbacks of the position and facility as well as the promotion and training opportunities, the company or department culture, salary, bonus, and benefits parameters.

The creation of a job description cannot be overemphasized, because it forms the foundation for any advertising, interviewing, and reference checking to follow!

Managing Applicant Expectations
Whether you are receiving resumes via mail or your website or being referred candidates by a recruiting firm, it is important that the applicants have a clear understanding of your interview process and time frame; i.e., when they can expect to hear back from you regarding next steps. The most successful employers move people quickly through the steps. Using a thorough job description as a framework coupled with the applicant's abilities described in his/her resume, it is clear who should be interviewed face-to-face. More good candidates are lost to "foot-dragging" than almost any other cause. Those who are not a match should be quickly and respectfully informed. Unless their resume got no further than to a P.O. box from a "blind"ad, the treatment of every applicant ultimately has an impact on the company's reputation.

Projecting a Positive Image
You have talked with a potential candidate on the phone that you now cannot wait to meet, or you have received a glowing recommendation from an employment agency. It is time to invite applicants to your company. What will they see and hear when they arrive for an interview? What impression will they have upon meeting the receptionist or staff sent to greet them? How do you and your staff handle delays and changes in the interview schedule? If you have any questions or concerns regarding these matters, the time to resolve them is before potential new hires walk through the door.

Finally, do you (or your staff, if appropriate) have training in conducting competency-based interviews? Especially after a recruiting firm has done a great job representing you and screening candidates, the results can be devastating if a potential hire finds your questions to be irrelevant, or worse, experiences that you do 80% of the talking in the meeting.

Using Competencies in Interviewing
Competencies are the combination of observable and measurable skills, knowledge, performance behaviors and personal attributes that contribute to enhanced employee performance. They arise from a good job description, and therefore should be used for interviewing.

For example, in a job where multi-tasking is a requirement, a candidate might be asked "Have you ever been asked to work on several important projects at the same time? Describe how you set priorities in one or more specific instances. What was the result?"

Personal attributes can also be assessed using this type of interviewing. For example, "When your work has been criticized, how have you reacted? Under what circumstances have you felt comfortable with the criticism? Please give me a specific example."

Candidates who have been given a thorough job description will understand how these types of questions relate to the job for which they are being interviewed and tend to welcome the opportunity to reveal to you how they think and work.

Open-ended behavior-based questions also work well for reference-checking with former employers and colleagues.

Hiring Successfully involves courtesy, common sense, and often some time to learn new skills. Is the savings in recruiting time and money worth that investment to you?

Two Important Snowboarding Tricks to Learn Before Starting Out

There are many ways to learn snowboarding. One is to go it blind: falling, stumbling, and learning by trial and error. Another is to learn snowboarding tricks that will help you gain more confidence on the slopes, keep you from having nasty spills, and maintain your pride in a crowd of other snowboarding enthusiasts.

Once you have the proper length of board, and the appropriate safety equipment in the form of goggles, helmet, and gloves, you will now be ready to take on the slopes. The first trick you should learn is that your skill will be helped greatly by your mind. In fact, many professional snowboarders credit their minds with helping them assimilate all the snowboarding tricks it takes to be successful.

Picture out each move you need to make, be it the bending of your knees to achieve greater balance and absorb shocks, or placing your left leg in front of the board to steer it where you want it to go. It will also help to visualize all your leg muscles loose and relaxed, as it is usually fear that tenses up a person, and causes quite a few nasty spills in the process.

Aside from being physically fit enough to manage the physical exertions that snowboarding requires, it is necessary to overcome your fear of sliding down a steep slope, or jumping up a ramp or incline. These two snowboarding tricks will see you in good stead: visualizing your moves before you make them, and overcoming your fear before starting out. Only then can you have a wonderfully exhilarating snowboarding experience.

White Sun (People)

The four different groups of people are basically 1] A person who comes from darkness and goes into darkness, 2] A person who comes from darkness and goes into brightness, 3] A person who comes from brightness and goes into darkness and 4] A person who comes from brightness and goes into brighter brightness.

1] A person who has come from darkness and is going into darkness means that one has died from a realm lower than the human realm such as animal realm and born as human. After he died, he will go back and born into a lower realm again.

How do we know that a person has come from lower realm than human? Such people are beggars or lowly families, blind, with hunchback, broken leg, bow-legged, curve hand, have deformities or handicapped, very unhealthy, hunters, fishermen and very poor people. This type of person has come from the woeful states of darkness.

How do we know that they will go back to the woeful states again after death? In this present life, they would kill, steal, have sexual misconduct, tell lies, cause disharmony among others and commit all kinds of unwholesome actions and sins. This type of people will definitely go back to the woeful realm or hell.

In the woeful states there are no light of wisdom but only darkness. There is no opportunity to do meritorious deed therefore, there is no happiness. There will be constant unhappiness in mind and but only anger and grief.

2] A person who comes from darkness but will go into brightness means that a person who has died in the woeful states of darkness and being reborn in the human plane. After death he will be reborn into a happier human which has brightness.

How do we know that he had come from darkness but will go into brightness? He is that of an individual being born in a lowly family, ugly, full of sickness, poor or destitute but he becomes remorseful and does a lot of wholesome deeds, gives donations, observing the right principle of life with good conduct. This type of person who has come from darkness will definitely go into brightness.

3] A person who has come from brightness but will go into darkness means that a certain individual is born into the royal family, wealthy parents or noble family, has good appearance, is free from diseases, is healthy, and also has lots of properties. This type of person is deemed to have come from good spiritual world higher than human realm or a very good human in his previous life.

How do we know that he is going to the realm of darkness after death? It is because he does not do any meritorious deeds, does unwholesome deeds such as killing, stealing or cheating, committing sexual misconduct, speaking falsely, taking intoxicants and enjoying all kinds of sensual pleasures. This type of person will surely go into darkness after death.

4] A person who has come from brightness and going into brighter brightness means that after death in the human world, he will be reborn as an even better or brighter human or in the good spiritual world as deity.

How do we know that he had come from brightness and will go into brighter brightness? He is that of a certain individual born in a royal or noble family, is good looking, free from diseases, enjoys good health and owns a lot of properties. Due to his richness he gives away easily, has a charitable and golden heart, loves doing wholesome deeds and observes and lives a highly principled life. He will surely be born into a realm higher and brighter than the human realm such as the spiritual world.

This is the advice from Heaven:

1] To purify one's mouth can cause the karma from one's previous births to cease and enable one to be a "freed Buddha."

2] To ferry or guide people to the way of Heaven can help remove the sentient beings from the bitterness of life and enable one to be a "lenient Buddha."

3] To be a Tao preacher can help others cease doubting about Tao and make them have faith in Tao, and enable one to be a "wise Buddha."

4] To set up a sanctuary can form good affinity with all sentient beings and enable one to be an "auspicious Buddha."

5] To be a pioneer for Tao can disseminate Tao to different places in the world and enable one to be a Buddha of "meritorious virtues."

6] To work and serve people in the sanctuary can make one modest and humble, work with one's full effort, and enable one to be a "vivacious Buddha."

Primary Benefits of Sunglasses

There are many reasons to wear sunglasses, and everyone has one of their own. Whether it is to mask a hangover, create mystery or escape the paparazzi, sunglasses are a part of everyday life. However, often the true benefits of this popular accessory are lost when fashion or other purposes take over. It may not be your only reason, but your best reason for sunglasses should be to protect your eyes.

Science has come a long way in correcting vision gone bad. Corneal transplants help a blind person see again. Laser treatment can restore your eyesight to 20/20 or better in mere minutes. Even with all this technology, wouldn't it be easier to take care of your eyes from the start? By simply wearing good sunglasses, you will reduce your need for these scientific breakthroughs later in life.

The sun creates ultraviolet light rays which contribute to the heat it produces. These rays, called UVA and UVB can cause irreparable damage to your retina and corneas. If you've ever watched an eclipse, you know you had to do so through a pinhole in a shoe box. This is because staring directly to the sun can cause great damage to your eyes. Unfortunately, many people are unknowingly allowing their eyes to suffer the same fate by simply choosing not to wear sunglasses.

Such disorders as cataracts, macular degeneration, and even skin cancer around the eyes can be signs of sun damage and can be prevented in part by the use of sunglasses. Cataracts are an eye condition that involves clouding of the lens behind the Iris and Pupil. Although no one truly knows what causes cataracts, studies have shown links between this condition and increased exposure to ultraviolet light. Though we do not know 100% that this is the cause, it has been determined that people who habitually wear sunglasses have seen a decreased incidence of this eye disorder.

Macular degeneration causes those who suffer from it to have difficulty seeing in detail. Often even faces are hard for these people to distinguish. This disease, like cataracts, is most prevalent in elderly patients. However, also like cataracts, prolonged exposure to sunlight without the protection of sunglasses has been included as a probable cause. Individuals who practice care in selecting sunglasses with 99%-100% UV protection stand a greater chance at avoiding this fate.

Think about the last time that you spent all day in the sun and were really badly sunburned. You probably took cold baths and slathered yourself in Aloe Vera. It is a painful condition to be in when this happens to your skin. Now, imagine what that same sunlight that gave you second degree burns on your skin is doing to your eyes when you choose not to protect them with proper sunglasses. That alone should be motivation to hit the sunglass kiosk at the mall.

You don't often think of sunglasses as something that will protect your skin. In reality, a good pair of sunglasses can save your face in more ways than one. Increased exposure to sunlight can cause skin cancer and will attach the most sensitive areas first. How much more sensitive can you get then the skin around your eyes. Sunglasses can reduce the risk of skin cancer in the eyelids and areas around your eyes.

Another benefit your skin will enjoy from a good pair of sunglasses is a decreased appearance of lines around the eyes. Simply logic tells us that distorting the face in certain ways on a regular basis can cause premature wrinkles and increase the signs of aging. When you do not wear sunglasses, you tend to squint, as your eyes are uncomfortable being opened under bright light. Sunglasses can actually help reduce the appearance of crow's feet by allowing your facial muscles to remain relaxed.

Your eyes are one of your most valued features. Can you imagine waking up tomorrow and not being able to see? Many people are born blind and would give anything for the eyes you take for granted every day. A good pair of sunglasses will protect you against a world of eye disorders and pain. If you don't protect this valuable possession, before you know it, it could be gone.

Goal Setting Success - Six Laws That Affect Your Behavior

There are six laws that affect your behavior. They have been working in your life since the day you were born. It doesn't matter whether you knew about them, understood them or could even explain them to someone else - they have still been working in your life. Unfortunately, they have been working against you 95% of the time, because you didn't know about them. But your ignorance of the laws does not prevent them from working in your life.
When you were a year old, did you know about, understand and have the ability to explain the law of gravity to someone else? Of course not. Did that mean you woke up in the morning sleeping on the ceiling? No. Your lack of awareness did not prevent the law of gravity from working in your life. These six laws are no different. Ignorant of them or not, they still work in your life. Your good intentions won't prevent them from working either.
If someone had pushed Mother Theresa off the edge of a 30-story building, what would have happened? She would have fallen, obviously. You may think, "But she was a saint, she was one of the most extraordinary women the world has ever seen; she was the most gracious, most caring, most giving person on the planet - that's just not fair." It's not about fair, it's about the law - the law of gravity works for everyone, every time.
The six laws that effect your behavior work for everyone, every time. It doesn't matter whether you are good or bad, motivated or lazy, excited or bored about life, have goals or don't have goals. If you don't understand them or know about them, there is a very high probability that they have been working against you 95% of the time - but they have been working. So, here they are:

Law #1 Everything you think about affects you.
Everything you put in your mind affects you.
Everything you allow into your mind affects you.
Everything you expose your mind to affects you.

Law #2 Your self-image was formed by CLEAR, SPECIFIC, VIVID, EMOTIONAL experiences and/or lots of repetition.

Law #3 Your performance will never exceed your self-image by very much or for very long.

Law #4 Your subconscious mind does not know the difference between a real event and a vividly imagined one.

Law #5 Your self image can only be changed by CLEAR, SPECIFIC, VIVID, EMOTIONAL experiences whether real or imagined.

Law #6 If you raise your self-image your performance will increase.

95% of the time these laws are working against people instead of for them - just because they don't know and understand. It's all about your THINKING.

11. Johannine Christianity: the Gospel

Introduction to New Testament (RLST 152) The Gospel of John is a gospel dramatically different from the Synoptic Gospels. It is full of long dialogues, it speaks of "signs" rather than exorcisms or miracles, and its narrative differs at many points from the Synoptics. Themes in the Gospel are also repeated throughout--themes such as ascending and descending, light and darkness, seeing and knowing. Johannine literature also presents a high Christology that equates Jesus with God. The Gospel also reflects the sectarian nature of the community to which the author belonged. Complete course materials are available at the Open Yale Courses website: open.yale.edu This course was recorded in Spring 2009.

Blood Brother Makes Contact

I opened the e-mail from my "Blood-brother," Norman. As best-friends, we had deeply cut our fingers - merging our blood and making a vow to be "Life-long friends"- in the third grade. Norman was the tallest boy in our class. I was the shortest, and the most deaf. I moved away from Bates, OR that summer. The unexpected communication from Norm was rather strange - considering we had not seen nor heard from each other in over fifty years.

It seems that my friend had used Goggle to seek information on the little sawmill town that has been long since removed from all but some old-timer's fading memories. He landed on an ezine article, "Izee - Growing Up In a Logging Camp," that I had published. In it, I had mentioned Bates in reference to some early years incidents which took place before moving to Izee - another vanished northwest sawmill community.

Well, it didn't take but a couple of e-mails to rekindle the respect that had fadeded without contact. My friend now had a ministry, PreciousTestimonies. Norm included the .com link to his website - to fill in the time gap - and thereby explain what he had been doing since we were kids.

Norm was-and is-direct. That, plus three other things was what I had liked most about my childhood blood-brother. He was always curious, brave, and honest. My adult blood-brother manifests those same admirable qualities. I used to think - maybe because Norman was so big - that he couldn't hide so good. We were both curious.

The difference between us was that - when we got caught doing what we shouldn't have been - my best friend would take the blame. I would hide out, try to put the blame on someone else, and avoid taking responsibility. My blood-brother never said that wrong was right. He still doesn't. I thought it was only wrong if I got caught. These same deceitful characteristics accompanied me into my adulthood also.

After reading my "Born again" brother's brave testimony, I wanted to share with him some of the many miracles that I have witnessed in my life since inviting Jesus to become my Lord - like he had - in my mid thirties. Yet, how could I? For nearly three years, I had been wrestling with some theological issues - since my precious caregiver and wonderful friend had dared to asked me some troublesome questions.

"Russ, how can you claim to be a Christian, when you were still practicing fornication, visiting prostitutes, blind to the spititual needs of your own children, have ignored your kid's dabbing with the occult in your own house? How can you continue quoting scripture - and speaking of 'Spiritual Gifts'- when you haven't lived by the precepts the Bible teaches?"

I had some of the answer in 1st John 1:9, "If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us [our] sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness." That is one of the scriptures I loved to quote to justify my sinful ways. But, I was still practicing sin so there was some pieces of the puzzle missing.

My caregiver had compounded my dilemma with her follow up questions. "Russ, doesn't the Bible clearly say, in Ephesians 5:5, 'For this you know, that no fornicator, unclean person, nor covetous man, who is an idolater, has any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and God?' She led me to the scripture - that indeed I had read - but had chosen to ignore.

"How," she demanded, "If you are really a Christian, could you not know these things?"

Looking for answers, I found only more substantiation of the points my frank friend was making.

2 Peter 2:2-3, "Many will follow their sensuality, and because of them the way of the truth will be maligned; and in their greed they will exploit you with false words; their judgment from long ago is not idle, and their destruction is not asleep."

Titus 2:2, "Older men are to be temperate, dignified, sensible, sound in faith, in love, in perseverance."

1 John 3:8-9, "Anyone who keeps on sinning belongs to the devil. He has sinned from the beginning, but the Son of God came to destroy all that he has done. God's children cannot keep on being sinful. His life-giving power lives in them and makes them his children, so that they cannot keep on sinning."

1 Timothy 5:20, "But if any of the leaders should keep on sinning, they must be corrected in front of the whole group, as a warning to everyone else."

While these were not the answers that I was looking for, they were, none-the-less, parts of God's Truth puzzle. I had thought that I was somebody who could help others - with all of my experience and wisdom. After all, I have laid hands upon the sick and I've seen them be healed. I've held held a preacher's license. I have been the recipient of many personal miracles and even hosted a weekly Bible study which included a woman who had been raised - after three days - from the dead. To top it off, one of my minister friends was even re-translating the New Testament from the original Greek!

What my new friend's words and actions taught me is - I had better learn some humility - and how to keep my mouth shut.

Titus 1:7-9, "For the overseer must be above reproach as God's steward, not self-willed, not quick-tempered, not addicted to wine, not pugnacious, not fond of sordid gain, but hospitable, loving what is good, sensible, just, devout, self-controlled, holding fast the faithful word which is in accordance with the teaching, so that he will be able both to exhort in sound doctrine and to refute those who contradict."

I now had to admit that my greed, arrogance, and devotion to self had facilitated the destruction of my three marriages, messed up some of my own children, and brought much undeserved pain to the undeserving women that I had married.

Another of the questions posed to me involved my declining health. With Multiple Sclerosis, I was unable to work, stumbling in prideful attempts to walk, and it was suggested that perhaps this was God's way of letting my sins have their way with me, bringing about my physical distruction, and making me to slow down so I would and listen to Him.

"What make's you think that God will ever heal you, the way you've lived, the pain you have caused others, and with all of the distruction that you have brought about?"

As I pondered once again these questions - and what to say to in my next e-mail to my blood-brother - the Spirit quickened some scriptures to me. They would supply the keys to the answers I needed - more of my Lord's Truth pieces - through assorted translations of the Bible.

John 9:1-3, "And as [Jesus] passed by, he saw a man which was blind from [his] birth. And his disciples asked him, saying, Master, who did sin, this man, or his parents, that he was born blind? Jesus answered, Neither hath this man sinned, nor his parents: but that the works of God should be made manifest in him."

2 Corinthians 4:5-9, " We are not preaching about ourselves. Our message is that Jesus Christ is Lord. He also sent us to be your servants. The Scriptures say, "God commanded light to shine in the dark." Now God is shining in our hearts to let you know that his glory is seen in Jesus Christ. We are like clay jars in which this treasure is stored. The real power comes from God and not from us. We often suffer, but we are never crushed. Even when we don't know what to do, we never give up. In times of trouble, God is with us, and when we are knocked down, we get up again."

2 Peter 3:9, "The Lord isn't slow about keeping his promises, as some people think he is. In fact, God is patient, because he wants everyone to turn from sin and no one to be lost."

1 Corinthians 13:12, "Now all we can see of God is like a cloudy picture in a mirror. Later we will see him face to face. We don't know everything, but then we will, just as God completely understands us."

So, why am I telling you all of this? Because Jesus wanted you to read it. It's not about me, or about Norman. It's about you and God's plan for your life. It's about how a Very Good God can get His message to you through many means - including the Internet - and the changed life actions of others that you have chance encountered on your path. I think my blood-brother will agree.

2 Corinthians 4:13-14, "We having the same spirit of faith, according as it is written, I believed, and therefore have I spoken; we also believe, and therefore speak; Knowing that he which raised up the Lord Jesus shall raise up us also by Jesus, and shall present [us] with you."

Well at last, I am free to begin writing my my changed-life Jesus story. Philipp 3:12, "Not that I have already obtained this or am already perfect; but I press on to make it my own, because Christ Jesus has made me his own."

Human Potential

What is the limit of human potential? What can we become? Into what can we grow from our untapped talents, our unexplored potentials?

Potentials are of two varieties; genetic and social.

Genetic potential is the one we are born with and is derived from the genes of our parents. It dictates our height, weight, colour of eyes and hair and probable diseases we will contract or resistence to diseases, intellectual capacity, etc.

Social potential is that which we derive as the result of our birth into a society with cultural strictures or opportunities. The education of the society into which we are born, our ability to access that education, the mode of living and the normal work the society is involved in, the belief system of the society, and wealth or poverty of our social group, all affect our opportunities to reach our potential.

But these constraints, whether genetic or social, can also become stepping stones to success. For example, Helen Keller suffered an illness which, at the age of two, left her blind, deaf, and mute. This adversity propelled her into fame as a world renowned exemplar of educational methods for the blind.

Adversities can become blessings that help us in re-thinking our actions and modifying our goals. Charles Kettering, the famous American engineer, broke his hand while cranking an automobile and hence invented the self-starter. He had a sign in his laboratory, "Do not bring me your successes, they weaken me. Bring me your problems, they strengthen me."

Edison, who patented 1100 inventions, claimed that his deafness helped him in that he could hear the loud ticking of the telegraph ticker amidst other chattering by people. This deafness led him to the unexplored field of sound and its transmission.

Beethoven was deaf when he composed his Ninth symphony. Darwin, Disraeli, Carlyle, Dickens, Emerson and John Burroughs became famous in spite of their handicaps.

Queen Elizabeth I suffered from stomach disorders, ulcers, dropsy, fits, rheumatism. Yet she ruled well, became the most famous sovereign in English History, and gave her name to an age.

What is the limit of human potential? There is none. Why? Because the substance of the Creator has no potential-limit and the soul of man is an atom of the Creator's energy. How can we prove this?

It is axiomatic that in the beginning only the Creator existed. He existed as energy. He converted a minuscule part of his energy to matter and created the universe. We know that he did not convert all his energy into matter. If He did, there would be only matter.

The soul of man is energy and not matter. That means that the Creator used his unconverted energy to create the soul of man. That is why the soul of man has unlimited potential .

We limit ourselves by our own belief. Belief is a very powerful instrument in achieving results. If we believe that we will not succeed, we will not attempt and our potential is wasted. Thus, we set the limits of our achievements. We can also break the limits of our achievements by belief and action.

In conclusion, there is no limit for human potential. We were created to be companions for the Creator and companionship demands brotherhood, and sharing of all potential. We know that there is no limit to the potentials of the almighty Creator. That means, human beings will be endowed with all the potentials of the Creator.

However, we cannot acquire all the potentials of the Creator until we are capable of handling all divine potentials. Just like we will not be able to teach infinitesimal calculus to a third grader, we will not be able to handle the divine potentials until we have become strong, wise and knowledgeable. The way knowledge is doubling and redoubling in shorter and shorter intervals, the day is not far away when we will have all the potentials the Creator- God has.

3 Tips For Horse and Cattle Events

Do you want tips for horse and cattle events?

There are basically three things to consider for one to be successful in cattle events and those are:

- the physical and mental condition of the horse
- the human's understanding of the stock
- the relationship or connection of the rider and the horse

Horse and Cattle events include cutting, team penning, and working cow horse. These are enjoyable events or competitions, and they enable you to see how functional and amazing horses really are. These events are considered to be advanced horsemanship. The horsemen that compete in these events are experienced and many of them are experts in their field.

Horses used in these types of events are extremely athletic and very willing to work with cattle. This type of horse can be referred to as "cowey". Some people would only choose horses with the bloodline and aptitude to these kinds of events. Horses in these cattle events are considered athletes. They must possess strength and agility in order to work cattle efficiently. Many a man hour goes into the correct training for both horse and rider. Horse and cattle both learn the rules of the game quickly.

The horses are expected to make explosive movements, such as quick turns. They also need to have that so-called "cow sense" which is what people in the industry call the main instinct needed by the horse to work cattle. Therefore, training does not only involve the physical conditioning but the mental development of the horse to further develop its "cow sense". The events are interplay of physical prowess, instinct, and control.

Horse suppleness and flexibility are very important in these events. The owner/rider should work on it relentlessly to insure the success of both rider and animal. The knowledge base of the rider must be topnotch as the horses are required to follow cues that are not perceivable by the untrained eye. Basically, riders aim to make their horses move easily with light aids. Some of the aids are actually involved are shifting of weight, hand aids, verbal and of course, leg cues. Horses are also trained to have tremendous focus on the task. They must be able to read and control cattle. You'll notice in an experienced team, that the horse enjoys the task as much as the rider, if not more.

A thorough understanding of cattle should be possessed in order to be successful at any event involving the animal. The natural behavior of cattle should be studied for full effectiveness.

These are some bits of information about cattle:

Both horses and cattle cannot see behind their bodies because of the way their eyes are positioned as prey animals. They also cannot see directly in front of them. This is called their "blind zone". They often rely on their peripheral vision and other means of communication, such as ground vibration, sound and the energy of the animals around them. These are very important bits of information to consider because you can effectively gauge their reactions based on this understanding.

As a rider, you must also be aware of "fight or flight". This the animal's personal space and reaction to serious stimuli. It will vary based on the horse and cattle's level of experience and tameness. Animals on the wilder side have larger flight zones. They can go as much as fifty meters while tamer cattle are about two to eight meters. It is possible to have a livestock with no response to stimuli. This is called desensitizing.

With this knowledge, you, as the rider, must be able to train your horse properly. Your horse's "cow sense" is intertwined with your knowledge (and instinct as well). However, you can train your horse and cattle to adapt to all types of experience and stimulus. This is why cattle events can be so enjoyable, because you get to see the complex and extensive use of horses as working animals.

You also get to see the importance of rider-to-horse communication, athleticism, instinct, intelligence etc.

Why Does God Allow Suffering?

Justin was a typical ten year old boy. He liked Leggos, trains, and watching TV. He had red hair, freckles, and a huge smile. Justin was a great kid and everybody loved him. Because of cancer, he didn't live to see his eleventh birthday. His mom Mary, who had watched him suffer for months, held her son in her arms when he died. Every day, for the last two years, she has lived with the grief of her loss and the memories of Justin's suffering.

This issue of suffering is the most common argument against religion. People often ask, "If there is a loving God, why does He make people suffer?"

I firmly believe that God does not cause sickness or pain. He doesn't make people hurt, and He doesn't want them to suffer. The life of Jesus proved this. He cured people; He did not make them sick. Why, then, are so many in pain?

There is no easy answer. To try and understand, I step back and look at the big picture. God made everything perfect. Then man sinned and that perfection was spoiled. Now we live in a world where evil abounds. We are subject to the evil actions of sinful people and to the natural consequences of those actions. This is not at all what God intended for the world He created.

God can and does intervene in some events, but why not others? Only He knows that answer, but the Bible teaches that there will be a time when He will put an end to ALL death, sadness, pain, sickness, and suffering.

Below are some possible reasons that people suffer.

1) We do things ourselves that cause us pain. We don't eat right, so we have heart attacks. We drive fast, so we have accidents. We smoke, so we get cancer. We start wars, we break laws, we don't show love to our fellow man. Much of the sorrow in this world, we bring upon ourselves by our own actions.

2) But what about innocent children who are not responsible for their suffering? Why do they get sick? This is a tough question. What I know for sure is that when God created this world, He intended for us to have strong, healthy bodies and freedom from pain and suffering. When evil entered the picture, it brought with it suffering. That is not to say people suffer because of their own personal sins, necessarily, but the world is changed, due to sin being part of the world. Jesus said, "In this world, you will have tribulation."

Just as in the case with Job, I believe that evil forces attack us and cause much suffering in an attempt to get people to blame God and turn away from Him. (Job 2:3-9)

3) God gives us rights as individuals. Because He allows us to choose for ourselves how we'll live, He had to also allow us the freedom to sin. This means He had to allow the consequences of our behaviors, too. Some of those consequences are diseases caused by toxins, accidents caused by risky behaviors, and natural disasters caused by things like changes in the ozone layer, which we have brought about.

4) Though some people think God punishes us by making us suffer, Jesus said that a blind man He healed was born blind, not because of his sin or his parents' sin, but "that the works of God should be revealed in him." (John 9:3) God didn't cause the blindness, but He used it to show His power to all who saw Jesus heal the man.

5) Another possible reason God allows suffering is so that our faith in Him will grow, our compassion for others will increase, and we'll be better able to encourage other hurting people (2 Corinthians 1:3-5).

6) Romans 1:22 says that God gives rebellious people over to their own foolishness. He lets us go, hoping that we will return to Him after we hit bottom and see the error of our ways. Giving His permission is not the same as causing the problem. God doesn't cause people to stubbornly refuse to follow His way. He doesn't want us to go ever deeper into degradation, but He does permit us to have our way when we are determined to choose our own path.

BUT WE ARE NOT WITHOUT HOPE:

Though this world is no longer perfect, God will create a perfect world some day in heaven. He will get rid of everything that is not HIS. Suffering, sin, pain, tears and death are not HIS. "When the perishable has been clothed with the imperishable, and the mortal with immortality, then the saying that is written will come true: 'Death has been swallowed up in victory.'" (1 Corinthians 15:54)

We have HOPE that all suffering will be relieved when we go to spend eternity with God. But this promise of eternal bliss is only for those who know, serve, and love Him.

God doesn't cause suffering; Satan does. When we get angry at God, it's exactly what Satan wants. By blaming God for evil, we're actually following the one who IS responsible.

"Be self-controlled and alert. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. Resist him, standing firm in the faith, because you know that your brothers throughout the world are undergoing the same kind of sufferings. And the God of all grace, who called you to his eternal glory in Christ, after you have suffered a little while, will Himself restore you and make you strong, firm and steadfast." (1 Peter 5:8-11)

Our souls are of greater importance to God than our bodies are. Though He cares about our physical suffering, healing our soul is more urgent because it is the soul that lives forever. Our relationship with God is what determines where that soul spends eternity. If only those who suffer here on earth would seek God and the true healing (of the soul) that He offers!

In this world, bad things happen to good people. Those who have a personal relationship with God are better able to cope. We can live without fear, even though we do not know what the future holds, if we know the one who holds the future in His hands. When we discover the great love God has for us, we can let go of fear.

Psalm 27:1 says "The Lord is my salvation. Whom shall I fear?" Jesus triumphed over death, and He alone can save us from eternal death. He can also see us through all the trials of life and bring us safely to heaven.

I don't have all the answers. I just hope that, in sharing what I've learned through my own experience, I've helped you to feel more at peace knowing God has ultimate control in every circumstance. He is GOOD, no matter what evil befalls us. We can trust in the one who is full of compassion and loves us more than we can imagine. Without that knowledge, I don't know how anyone could cope with the trials of life.

No one can comfort the depths of our sorrows except God. I'm convinced that if you read His promises in the Bible, your heart will be encouraged.

Big Cat - Jaguar

The Jaguar, genus Panthera onca, is the largest, most powerful and only spotted feline to be found in the Americas. Except for an area southeast of Tucson, Arizona, it has migrated south to Central and South America. In Mexico, it is known as el tigre.

It is the same size as a leopard measuring 7 feet including the relatively short tail and can weigh over 200 pounds. It is clumsy looking with a large head, heavy body and big stomach but well muscled. Due to its body shape, it is adept at climbing, crawling and swimming. Having a powerful jaw, it can drag a 800 pound bull and pulverize the largest bones. It walks with a rolling gait and has the ability to roar.

The fur is yellowish to reddish-brown with deep black rosettes. There are additional spots within the rosette. Towards the tip of the tail, the markings are circular. The underbelly, throat, outer surface of the legs and and lower flanks are white. In rare cases, it can be all black but its spots are still visible. If all black, it can be known as a black panther but it is not a separate species.

While preferring to live in a rain forest, it can be found in forested and open terrain. It feeds on turtles, alligators, deer, tapirs, large rodents and fish. Using an ambush tactic, it is a solitary hunter which stalks its prey and makes a short leaping attack for the kill. After biting into the skull of its prey fatally damaging the brain, it will drag its kill to a secluded area to feed on. The hunting usually occurs around dusk or dawn. It rarely attacks humans.

There are eight variations of the animal depending on the location.

Peruvian - coastal Peru.
Mexican - western Mexico.
Central American - El Salvador to Columbia.
Arizonian - southern Arizona to Sonora, Mexico.
Texan - central Texas to southeastern Mexico.
Goldman - Yucatan Peninsula to Belize and Guatemala.
Venezuelan - Venezuela through the Amazon.
Pantanal - Mato Grosso and Mato Grosso do Sul, Brazil, Paraguay River into Paraguay and northeastern Argentina.

Due to geographical barriers, there is not much cross breeding among the different types.

Known to mate year round, cub population will increase when food is plentiful. The female provides all the parenting fearing adult male cannibalism. The cubs are born blind but gain sight within two weeks. They will live with the mother for up to two years. The lifespan in the wild is 12 to 15 years but it can live close to 23 years in captivity.

The world population has been declining due to loss of habitat, hurricanes and food availability. It has increased it consumption of cattle as a food source but is more susceptible to being shot by ranchers. It is considered an endangered species in the United Stares and is prohibited from being hunted in most countries in the Americas.

It has long been a symbol of power in South America. In Brazil, it is a national symbol where the people believe its fat is magical and gives them courage. It is also the national animal of Guyana and is featured on the Guyana's coat of arms. The name has been used by sports teams and represents a luxury automobile brand.

Baby Ferret - Know This Before You Adopt a Baby Ferret

A baby ferret is known as a kit. It is born blind without its fur. It usually takes a kit about 3 weeks to get its fur and open its eyes. It is within this period that a kit transforms and goes through many stages until it reaches adulthood. Although one thing is for certain, no matter what size, age or color, ferrets will always be adventuresome, playful and mischievous. It is for this reason that a potential ferret owner has to weigh the disadvantages and advantages of being a ferret owner.

Although they are animals, ferrets basically have to be cared for as if they were children. Because of their nature, they have a sense of adventure and curiosity that keeps them in trouble. They are constantly finding new and creative ways to get into the biggest messes. As a ferret owner, you must be able to give them plenty of your time and attention. This is a necessity. In addition, because of its mischievous behavior, a baby ferret requires great patience.

Babies, Children and Ferrets

Without doing the proper research, many potential ferret owners may automatically assume that it is okay to match children, babies and ferrets together. Do not make this assumption. While a baby ferret is playful, it likes to nip and bite with its owners. Unfortunately, this type of behavior is seen by some people as being intimidating.

Yes, a baby ferret likes to nip and antagonize its owner. However, it does this in a playful manner. This is its way of showing love and affection. An insightful owner is aware of this fact. But on the other hand, children often times do not understand the playfulness of a ferret. They assume that the ferret is trying to bite them intentionally.

As a result, babies, children and ferrets should not be placed together. Many times, parents like to pair their babies with animals that are also small in nature such as puppies and kittens. However, with ferrets, this action is highly inappropriate.

Ferret Proof Your Home

Baby ferrets are just like little mischievous children. As a result, you have to ferret-proof your home in the same manner as if you were living with a small child. As mentioned before, they have a keen sense of adventure. This sets the stage for their ability to get into all types of trouble.

Unlike children, a baby ferret is able to get into different types of playful situations because of its size and nature. A ferret sees a hole as a new place of discovery. They love to dig holes and burrow into cracks and deep hiding places. Ironically, they have been known to also take a few of their owners possessions into these deep and dark "hiding places".

Many ferret owners have misplaced key rings or other items because their loveable ferrets have swiped them. You have to have a sense of humor when dealing with ferrets. Keep your prized possessions out of your pet ferrets reach.

A baby ferret is a very playful and cuddly pet to own. You have to have patience, time and energy to be a successful ferret owner. Although they are cute, playful and adorable, baby ferrets can be a handful.

Cruachan - Pagan

Cruachan Pagan Metal Folk. Cruachan - Pagan (2004) Cruachan probably means the name of an old capital from the old irish kingdom of Connacht. Lyrics: A scourge on the world from the earliest days Christ, his church and his sinister ways Starter of wars, Instigator of crimes Despoiler of cultures, Destroyer of minds More people have died in the name of Christ Than any other in the history of life You kill all who oppose your perfidious might A religion of conquest born in black light Our father who art in heaven Corruption be thy name You blind your people with lies False prophet your only gain Thy kingdom come and be done Your time is now at an end The veil is slowly being lifted Your past you must try to defend They prey on our children so young and naive These pedophile bastards they are a disease They preach about love, or so I am told But the love that they practice is twisted and cold.

Reverend Charlie Jackson - "Wrapped Up, Tangled Up in Jesus"

Rev. Charlie Jackson played deep, raw, bluesy gospel. Born in 1932 just outside of McComb, Mississippi, he took up the electric guitar as a young man and started out playing the blues. Soon afterwards, he gave up the blues to serve the Lord. He developed a highly potent style and often played on church programs with the legendary Rev. Utah Smith. He subsequently recorded a string of incredible and legendary 45s for Booker Records out of New Orleans. After his classic recordings for Booker went out-of-print, Rev. Jackson took matters into his own hands and started his own private press label, Jackson Records, in the late '70s. This disc collects almost all of his commercially-issued material, and it's some of my all-time favorite music. I've listened to these songs hundreds of times and they still move me deeply. If this sort of thing sounds as if it would be to your taste, I can't recommend it highly enough.

Is God Calling You to a Higher Place?

Dan Harwell, the worship leader and associate pastor at my church, has led an interesting life. He has a powerful testimony of the call of God. Born blind in one eye, his sight was restored during a prayer session for healing. Ironically, he was there to pray for others' healing, but no one showed up, so the team prayed for him. The amazing aspect is that the optometrist he visited (as a result of his new binocular vision making his glasses prescription obsolete) claims the instruments still show his eye as sightless. She couldn't argue with the results of his eye chart test though. He sees from an eye that appears dead to the medical world. That sounds like science fiction or fantasy to some people, but Dan is living proof that God does exist and He still performs miracles.

Dan also has an ear to hear God speak to him. God spoke to him about writing a book. Another man later prophesied that Dan would write a book. Finally Dan's wife asked him when he was going to write the book God had laid on his heart. They talked it over and decided it was time to step out in faith. He quit a wonderful job and wrote for nine months living on the money that trickled in from various sources. Things were tight, but adequate finances came in during that time to tide the family over. When the book was finished, he landed another excellent job and life went back to normal. He has no desire for an encore performance. His book is now on the streets and can be purchased at Amazon and other online stores. However, it is competing against the 400,000 books that were published last year and more than 200,000 that were published the year before that. There are over seven million books listed on Amazon. Perhapps you can see why the chances of this little book ever making a dent in the world of writing are slimmer than the chances of both the Cubs and the Mariners making it to the World Series in the same year. That's a shame. This book, Gathering the Priests, has a powerful message, especially for the males of the church. If God asked Dan to write it, then obviously there are people who should read it. Maybe you are one of them. My review follows below.

My Amazon review is entitled, What good thing could come out of Madison, SD. That is the city where I was born and where Dan and I both currently reside. It was once pondered about what good thing could come out of Nazareth. We all know the answer to that one. Funny how God chooses the small things, places, and people to confound and humble the educated, powerful, and sophisticated. I needed this book. My understanding of the glory of God was sadly lacking. After reading this, I understand better what God desires for man and of man. Would you have been excited to have been one of the 300 men chosen by Gideon to do battle against overwhelming odds? If your answer is yes, you'll want to read this book and fathom how you can become one of his royal priesthood set apart to help usher in a return of Shekinah glory upon the Earth and in so doing bring healing and conversion upon our planet. Maybe God is calling you to read this book in order to prepare you for your own calling, whether you be male or female.

I truly feel that God is speaking to those who are willing to humble themselves and listen to His voice today. Some people have been called to perform special tasks for the kingdom. If you are called and you do not respond to your assignment, that call will be given to someone else and you will have an eternity to regret missing your cue. If you truly love God, now is the time to seek Him as never before. In my search to get closer to my Heavenly Father, I have discovered that He wants me to get my emotional and spiritual sustenance from Him and not from mankind. If I rely on men's (or women's) praises to give me validity as a person, I'm ultimately going to be hurt and disappointed. That message becomes clearer and clearer as I get closer to the throne. To arrive at that position, you might have to throw away many of the preconceived notions you have of God and the ways in which he works. I know I have to jettison a lot of stinking thinking in order to develop my relationship with God to where we both want it. But I realize that he is no fool who gives up that he cannot keep to keep that which he cannot lose, so I give up whatever I must as willingly as I can. The evil upon our planet grows deeper every day. God's kingdom cannot dispel that darkness unless those who call upon the name of Jesus start making it a priority to pray and spend time with God in spirit and in truth in order to augment their courage, understanding, and resolve to make a stand for their Creator and His eternal truths in these perilous times. You'll have an eternity to celebrate your wise decisions and your participation in the struggle.
